Monstrum: Rise of the Mutant

Linry_Summer
In a world ravaged by a catastrophe on March 1, 2060, humanity faces the invasion of monstrous creatures from mysterious portals. The devastation seems insurmountable until a new form of energy, Spirit, is discovered, allowing people to wield magic. However, the power comes at a dangerous cost. In a desperate bid to fight back, scientists genetically modify humans by transferring monster genes, creating "mutants" with extraordinary abilities. Twenty years later, humanity is rebuilding, and mutants have become a central force in defending against the remaining monsters. However, the struggle for survival is far from over, as danger still looms. Zev Quellen, a former promising mutant with a tragic past, is forced into a confrontation with his brother, Laros, who shows him no mercy. Once thought to be a prodigy after his Awakening—a transformative process that unlocks monster genes—Zev’s life was shattered by a catastrophic failure during the procedure, leaving him physically and emotionally scarred. Now, Zev lives as a mercenary, hunting monsters for bounties, but his past still haunts him. During a fight with a Minotaur, Zev is betrayed by Eros, a former ally, and poisoned. As he lies dying, Zev, for the first time since his traumatic Awakening, wishes for a second chance at life. The chapter ends with Zev presented with an opportunity to restart his life—an offer that could change everything.
