The Silver Prison: The Chronicles of Ephatha By Ngozi Patricia Okeke-Anyichie The World Before the Prison Long before the Chronicles fractured reality into layered worlds, there was a civilization hidden deep within the mountains of South Asia—a place where ancient magic flowed through the soil like rivers beneath the earth. This land, rich with history and sacred knowledge, guarded a mysterious relic known as the Cursed Bloom, a crystalline flower said to possess the power to reshape existence itself. The Bloom was not simply magic. It was memory, sacrifice, and creation woven into one living artifact. For generations, its power was kept hidden from the outside world by a secret order known as the Keepers—forty-eight guardians sworn to protect the balance between worlds. But balance never survives desperation. When shadowy beings known as Void Seekers discovered the Bloom’s existence, they descended upon the land like a plague of darkness. Entire villages were consumed. The sky turned to ash, and the mountains themselves trembled as the barrier between realities began to tear. At the center of this chaos stood Rehaan, a brilliant scholar and Keeper whose love for his family was stronger than his loyalty to the order. As the Void Seekers closed in and the world around him burned, Rehaan made a decision that would reshape reality forever. He stole the Cursed Bloom. Not to save the world. But to save his daughter. The Birth of the Silver Prison Using the stolen fragment of the Bloom, Rehaan tore open the boundaries of reality and created a hidden pocket dimension—a sanctuary where the Void Seekers could never reach them. He called it Oak Heaven. Inside this carefully crafted world, time flowed gently. The skies were always golden, the gardens forever blooming, and the winds carried the scent of jasmine. It was a paradise untouched by war or suffering. But paradise always demands a price. The immense magic required to sustain Oak Heaven could not exist without a power source. To maintain the barrier separating this world from the dying remains of the original one, the Bloom needed a living anchor. And the only being powerful enough to sustain it was the child whose life Rehaan had sworn to protect. Avianna. Without ever knowing it, Avianna became the beating heart of the Silver Prison. Her life force fed the barrier that kept the sanctuary alive. Every breath she took strengthened the walls that sealed her away from reality. For twenty years, Avianna grew up believing her father’s story—that the outside world had collapsed into chaos and that Oak Heaven was the last refuge of their people. She had never seen a storm. Never walked through a crowded marketplace. Never experienced the raw unpredictability of life beyond the garden walls. Everything she knew had been carefully designed. Beautiful. Perfect. And entirely false. The Cracks in Paradise As Avianna reaches her twentieth year, strange things begin to happen within Oak Heaven. The wind freezes in place without warning. Birds stop mid-flight. Time itself seems to pause for brief, unsettling moments. These disturbances are subtle at first, but Avianna senses something deeper beneath them—a vibration beneath the illusion, as though the world around her is slowly unraveling. Her father dismisses her concerns, insisting that the barrier is merely being strengthened against outside threats. But Avianna can feel the truth pressing against her chest like a second heartbeat. Something is calling to her. Something beyond the prison walls. That call becomes impossible to ignore when a stranger appears within the supposedly impenetrable sanctuary. His name is Kaelen. He is not dressed like the elegant scholars and advisors who populate Oak Heaven. His clothes are torn, his eyes are sharp with survival, and his presence carries the weight of a world far harsher than the one Avianna knows. Kaelen claims to be one of the remaining Keepers—a guardian whose duty was meant to protect the bala
