Merlee has always felt different, though he never understood why. While other boys chased girls and bragged about their desires, he felt detached and confused, convincing himself he was simply not interested yet. He never allowed himself to consider the possibility that he might be gay.
In his world, that truth is dangerous.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer people are hated openly, labeled immoral, hunted in the streets, and abandoned by their families. Society believes morality is tied to sexuality. Merlee does not. To him, morality is about a person’s heart, not who they love.
When he finally realizes he is gay, fear consumes him. He cannot tell his father, a respected doctor obsessed with reputation. He cannot trust his classmates. Exposure could mean disownment, violence, or even death. Silence becomes his protection.
But the violence against LGBTQ people keeps rising. Killings increase. Attacks grow bolder. The government does nothing.
After witnessing the brutality firsthand, Merlee refuses to remain powerless. What begins as defending one victim grows into something bigger. He creates a secret identity and begins hunting those who prey on people like him. Sometimes he warns them. Sometimes he threatens them. When necessary, he eliminates them.
As fear spreads among attackers, hope spreads within the hidden LGBTQ community. A masked protector emerges. A rumor and a symbol.
But as Merlee walks the line between justice and vengeance, he must face a deeper question: can he protect others without losing himself?
This is the story of a boy who was forced to hide, and the vigilante he becomes to survive.
