UNMATED follows the journey of Jessica "Jess" Miller, a dedicated high school English teacher who has spent ten years acting as the "emotional scaffolding" for her mate, Carl. In a final, explosive confrontation, Jess harnesses the collective "Pack-Heart" of the Syndicate to awaken the Origin Bond, incinerating the Queen and shattering her reign of hunger. The story concludes with the establishment of a "New Curriculum" for the North, where hierarchy is replaced by community. Jess remains a teacher and a leader alongside Silas, while a ruined, human Carl is left to live a solitary life in exile, a "ghost in a cabin" haunted by the ambition that cost him everything.
