Before her mother's death, Ivy and David had a cordial but somewhat distant relationship. David had always been kind and supportive, but he never tried to replace her father. After her mother's death, Ivy took over that role, taking on responsibilities she wasn't prepared for. David became her confidant, her protector, and her support. Ivy, in turn, felt grateful to him, but also resentful for disturbing her family. She blamed David, subconsciously, for her mother's death. It was David who had insisted they go on the trip, the one on which the accident occurred. As time passed, that resentment began to fade, replaced by a growing sense of dependence. She realized that David was truly suffering, that he was as lost and heartbroken as she was. She began to see him as a fellow victim, a kindred spirit. Their shared grief brought them closer together, creating a bond of empathy and understanding. They began spending more time together, talking for hours about their feelings, sharing memories of their mother. They found comfort in each other's presence, a sense of calm they couldn't find anywhere else. But beneath the surface of their emotional connection, a forbidden attraction began to simmer. Ivy began to notice David's physical allure—his broad shoulders, his strong arms, his kind eyes. David, in turn, felt drawn to Ivy's youthful, innocent beauty, her radiant energy, and her captivating smile. He tried to suppress his desires, reminding himself that she was his stepdaughter, that their relationship was inappropriate and immoral. But the more he fought, the stronger his feelings became.
