Stratus was in big trouble in this 3v3. Luke was lagging behind Nash in terms of farm, while Vincent was frequently bullied by ganks in Top.
The only lane where Stratus maintained the high ground was Bot. There, Lars was thoroughly schooling Jaiden.
And yet, despite how dominant Lars was on the lane, he hadn't scored a single kill on Jaiden. He got two kills on Nash, who had a bad habit of pushing his luck when ganking.
But, Jaiden? The guy who was on Lars's lane 24/7? Somehow, dude always slipped away during the most critical moment!
Lars fired a cool Trickshot that bounced twice and headed straight toward Jaiden's exposed back! But, right as the skillshot was about to connect, Jaiden decided to roll for some reason!
"Wha-!?" Lars exclaimed. "Oh, c'mon! How did ya roll that, dude!? Totally sick, tho."
Somehow, dodges like these became a regular occurrence. Every dang time, right when things were about to get good, Jaiden unexpectedly slipped away! What a dang pro!
"I've had this suspicion before," Vincent said. "But, now it has become a conviction. Renegade is... The Undying Survivor!"
"Totally, yo!" Lars nodded. "Dude just refuses to git killed!"
"Truth be told," Vincent said. "I've seen some evidence of that all the way back in the Taurus scrim. It often proved surprisingly difficult to take him down. That said, in this game, the man is truly outdoing himself."
"Yeah," Luke agreed. "Like, he's pretty much the only reason we started the game on the wrong foot. I almost had him during the invade! But, then I didn't."
"Indeed. It was quite unfortunate."
Renegade's unexpected personal skill was making life very difficult for Stratus. He was able to slip away from death every time.
On top of that, Laplace played it safe to discourage ganks. Therefore, Stratus' only angle of attack was striking down StormMonster, something Gunz successfully accomplished a few times. Alas, it was not enough for the team to catch up.
To make things worse, as they reached the mid-game, the enemy trio grouped up and started acting as an organized assault unit. And, of course, their primary target was none other than Gunz!
"Time to take him down!" Jaiden led the charge.
"Hell yeah, it's payback time!" Nash declared. "I gotta return the favor for all these deaths!"
"Those were on you, though," Rio pointed out.
"Pft. Thanks, pal. Very encouraging." Nash rolled his eyes. "Anyway, let's goooooo!"
The trio approached their prey from three different directions. With this, the Invincible Triangle was complete!
"Yo, when did they all get here!?" Lars exclaimed. "I'm surrounded from all sides!"
"Such impeccable teamwork!" Vincent exclaimed. "They were scattered in three different areas until a moment ago, but now they're all here!"
"I know, right? Crazy stuff!"
"Dang," Luke clicked his tongue. "Sorry, man, I don't think I can get there in time to help."
"Neither can I," Vincent said. "My apologies."
"Heh. Okey-dokey!" Lars grinned. "Then, it's just me and my Shooter against these dudes! Let's go, yo!"
"It's time for a trick show!" the Trickshooter announced loudly to the audience in front of him. They were about to witness some crazy magic show, yooooooo!
Their formation is kinda tricky, but pretty sure I can do this! Lars slid to the side, dodging two incoming basic attacks. And, in the middle of sliding, he fired a Trickshot!
He could've played this boss battle on easy mode by aiming the Trickshot directly at Jaiden. Or, he could've played on medium by aiming for one wall bounce.
But nah, Lars ain't no scrub like that. BAM!
First, the Trickshot hit a wall and bounced off at Rio. But that wasn't the end of it.
BAM. The Trickshot hit another wall and ricocheted once again, this time piercing Jaiden! TRIPLE DAMAGE, YOOOO!
"Gah!?" Jaiden groaned. The damage was so high he could feel the pain in real life! "What the hell was that just now!? How do you even aim like this!?"
"Quick! Kill him!" Nash yelled. "Kill him with fire!"
Nash activated Grievous Assault, aiming at Lars's exposed back. He leapt forward and slashed with his claws… only to hit nothing!
"Wha-!?" Nash exclaimed. "That slippery little...!"
Grievous Assault was hella fast, but Lars was even faster! Dude juked the attack with Trickslide without even seeing it!
"Damn, his Shooter is insane!" Nash exclaimed. "He slides and shoots like crazy!"
"Totally." Jaiden nodded. An excited grin formed on his face despite the struggle.
This overpowered, borderline superhuman Trickshooter was exactly what he had wanted to see from Lars. That's the kind of crazy performance that stole Jaiden's heart last year. It showed him that the two guys who got into StormBlitz in his stead were on a whole different level.
But, right now, Jaiden wasn't just a spectator. He was here, with his best friends, fighting that impressive ex-StormBlitz player. So, no matter how amazing Gunz was, they will crush him!
