Chapter 76 - Chapter 76: Give Up, It's Incurable

"Fine, I'll say it," Conan had black lines dropping down his forehead. "I remember Hattori-niichan's deduction."

"Okay," Takagi Wataru looked at his notes. "However, Mr. Chi also needs to explain his relationship with the victim. Hmm? The Morizono family is also a household Mr. Chi was staying with..."

Chi Feichi: "..."

He is not a plague god; it has nothing to do with him!

For the remaining time, Conan was responsible for the main narration again, with Chi Feichi supplementing.

After the questions were finished, they checked the records and signed.

Conan was familiar with the process throughout, only providing more detail. By the time everything was done, it was already past 8 PM. Professor Agasa had already taken the three children for a walk around and come back.

Sato Miwako waited at the door and asked with a smile, "It's so late. Do you want to go eat together?"

"No need, no need," Professor Agasa waved his hands hurriedly. "We'll just grab a bite outside."

Takagi Wataru breathed a long sigh of relief. This morning at work, he actually encountered the legendary July and was startled by a truckload of 'delivery packages'. In the morning, he worked as a porter doing hard labor, and in the afternoon, he took statements from a group of children and Chi Feichi until evening. He didn't know whether to count it as lucky or unlucky, but this day was truly magical and exhausting enough.

Fortunately, today's work was finally over.

"Um... Officer Sato..."

"Officer Sato, if possible, how about going to eat French cuisine with me?" Shiratori Ninzaburo walked up from behind and invited slowly. "Find a romantic place, let us raise a glass together under the night view..."

Sato Miwako looked dreamy. "That sounds pretty good!"

Takagi Wataru remembered Miyamoto Yumi saying that the person Sato Miwako liked was in the First Investigation Division. Seeing the two chatting and laughing, he felt severely struck.

Shiratori Ninzaburo smiled elegantly. "I have an uncle who is the head chef of a three-star French restaurant."

"That's impressive," Sato Miwako smiled too. "But no thanks, I don't like French food."

"Eh?" Takagi Wataru perked up again. After Shiratori Ninzaburo left dejectedly, he asked, "Don't you like French food?"

"I can't say I like or dislike it, I just don't like eating in those high-end restaurants where you have to sit straight," Sato Miwako took the initiative to invite him. "I know a delicious ramen shop nearby. Want to go eat together later?"

"Sure!" Takagi Wataru agreed hurriedly.

"Sato, Takagi!" Megure Juzo caught up, clearly in a good mood. "We solved quite a few cases today. Want to go for a drink together? The others have already gone ahead!"

Sato Miwako immediately stood straight and saluted, smiling happily. "Yes, Sato Miwako is happy to go!"

Takagi Wataru's imagination ran wild, guessing if the person Sato Miwako liked was Megure Juzo, and he instantly became dejected.

This discovery was definitely the most magical thing today!

He thought he was full of energy, but he didn't expect to be not only physically tired but also mentally tired right before getting off work...

Even after seeing Chi Feichi and the others to the parking lot, Takagi Wataru hadn't recovered and was still in a dazed, distracted state.

Watching Takagi Wataru drift away somewhat absent-mindedly, Ayumi was a bit worried. "Is he really okay?"

"Probably just too tired," Professor Agasa withdrew his gaze and suggested with a smile, "Alright, let's go try the ramen at that nearby ramen shop! I know the address!"

The next day, Chi Feichi began to busy himself with graduation matters.

He wasn't the only one applying for early graduation. There were a few quotas every year. Those who could pass the application could basically pass the theory exams, although their exams would be a bit harder.

Veterinary medicine in Japan is basically a six-year program, considered a combined bachelor's and master's degree. Students begin choosing laboratories in their fourth year, and the fifth and sixth years are mainly spent in laboratories and internships.

Theory exams, clinical exams, reporting to the laboratory, submitting research proposals, preparing thesis... Even though Chi Shinnosuke had pulled some strings, the process was merely accelerated; none of the required exams were skipped.

With the memories of the original consciousness supporting him, he wouldn't fail, but Chi Feichi was still dizzy from the busyness.

If not for the chaotic dates on the records, he would have almost forgotten what kind of world he was living in.

Ten days later...

In a coffee shop outside the university, Professor Agasa, Haibara Ai, Suzuki Sonoko, Mouri Ran, and Conan, who came to visit, were all gathered.

"Pfft!" Conan looked at the two data records and couldn't hold back a mouthful of coffee, spraying it out.

Fortunately, Chi Feichi saved it in time, preventing the documents from getting wet.

"Really, Conan, be careful!" Mouri Ran complained, but still took a handkerchief to wipe Conan's mouth.

"Sorry..." Conan said, but couldn't hold back another snicker. "Hahahahaha..."

Chi Feichi turned his head calmly and said to the waiter, "Please give me another serving of deep-fried elementary school student."

Haibara Ai, who got hit by stray fire, looked up blankly: "..."

She seems to be an elementary school student now too...

"Uh..." The waiter sweated profusely. "D-Deep-fried elementary school student?"

Suzuki Sonoko waved her hand with a smile. "Alright, alright, he's joking."

Professor Agasa flipped through the two reports, confused. "Is there something wrong? They seem to be two identical records, right?"

"One is signed by Brother Chi, so it should be the data recorded by him. The other is data recorded by someone else," Conan explained while holding back laughter. "It should be that the professor in Brother Chi's laboratory asked him to modify it based on the reference."

Suzuki Sonoko leaned over curiously. "They really are identical. But since they are identical, why modify it?"

"Look here!" Conan pointed to the dates on the front page of the two documents. "The times are not wrong, but..."

The dates are all wrong!

Chi Feichi remained silent.

His dates were written down on the day; whatever date it was, he wrote it down.

Looking at it as a whole, it was arranged like July 13th, March 21st, September 2nd...

The professor's records were originally the same.

He had even wondered if people in this world wouldn't find this date sorting strange.

As a result, early this morning, the professor gave him this record to modify the dates. He took a look, and the dates on the professor's record had actually turned into July 13th, July 14th, July 15th...

Clearly, when recording data that day, everyone filled in the same date. But somehow, the dates on other people's records had become sequential, while only his were a mess.

What could he do?

He was also very desperate!

It was also this time that he realized how severely he had been abandoned by this world.

Since it modified the dates on everyone else's records, why not modify his along with them?

The group looked at the dates on the two records. Seeing Chi Feichi's chaotic dates, after secretly stifling their laughter, they couldn't help but worry.

"Have you gone to the hospital for a check-up recently?" Haibara Ai asked.

Chi Feichi's expression didn't change much. "I made an appointment. Going for a check-up in a few days."

Don't ask him exactly how many days until the check-up; he doesn't know either...

After having his fun, Conan couldn't laugh anymore upon thinking about it. "Generally speaking, time perception disorder is a complication of split personality. As the condition improves, the perception disorder will slowly disappear. It shouldn't remain unimproved all this time..."

Chi Feichi really wanted to say: Give up, it's incurable.

Anyway, he didn't hold much hope. Giving up treatment, who cares what date it is? He felt much more relaxed this way.

"Take it slowly, it will get better sooner or later. Even if it doesn't, Brother Feichi is still an amazing detective!" Suzuki Sonoko leaned close to Mouri Ran with a smile. "Ran, I think he's much more amazing than your hubby!"

Mouri Ran blushed and complained softly, "What hubby? Sonoko, you're talking nonsense again!"

Conan lowered his head, his face also a bit red.

Haibara Ai sipped her coffee leisurely. "I think so too."

"But Shinichi-niichan hasn't admitted defeat!" Conan couldn't help but make a stand for himself.

He admitted Chi Feichi was amazing at deduction, and he hadn't gained the upper hand, but that didn't mean he admitted defeat.

Deduction, well, cases are different, and it's inevitable to be better or worse at some. being a step late like this is normal. Anyway, he felt he would win sooner or later.

"That's true. The two haven't competed properly at all," Suzuki Sonoko watched the drama unfold, not minding if it got bigger. "If only they could compete once. By the way, Ran, have you contacted that guy Kudo Shinichi? Will he go tomorrow?"

Mouri Ran regretted, "I called him. He said he has a case to work on, so he won't go with us."

"Then ignore him," Suzuki Sonoko looked at Chi Feichi again. "Brother Feichi, we are going to Izu for a trip tomorrow. If you are not busy, do you want to come along?"
