Chapter 11 - 11 Breaking Walls

She looked at him and smiled.

"We should get going. I'm feeling cold. Brrr..." Alex said.

"Ok." Alexander looked at her with warmth and wrapped her in his arms. They stayed for a minute in that position when the rain suddenly stopped. Although the thunderstorms are still brewing, he cradled her into his arms. She was so stunned that she let him carry her like that. She hid her face in his chest and put her arms around his neck. Alexander's heart felt her small gestures meant his true happiness. Alex had her share of moments this day. He was her first kiss, her first embrace and her first intimate encounters. She looked at his face, remembering his almond eyes, sharp nose, his chin and his luscious lips that were so soft like clouds and full of moisture. He walks slowly but sturdy. It was enough to turn heads when they passed the party. Not long ago, the storm passed but she felt there were rays of sun shining on them. Eyes glued on the two of them and a pair of eyes started to burn out of rage.

As soon as they left, murmurs started to emerge. That pair of eyes looked at them with disgust and hate as if they stole the whole night of happiness from them. A man's hand started to caress her back.

"What are you looking at?" He asked.

She gave him a skeptical look. She looked at him from head to toe and he was wet from the rain. Her emotions drastically changed because seeing the man she loved needs her help.

"Nothing. I was looking for you. Have you talked with..." She asked.

His face turned dark and looked at her face, suddenly his emotions was suppressed by her caring character.

"Yes. We catched up and I was happy that she moved on. I was relieved knowing she will be alright." He answered.

She stood up and walked towards him. She caress his face and his hands caught hers. His hands wrapped around her waist. He kissed her gently and said,

"Let us get going. I need to change. We have guests to send of after this party." He said.

She nodded and went with him in their room.

On the corridor of the room..

Alexander felt his arms going numb when they reached the room's door. She felt his hands searching for the keys and accidentally dropped it on the floor. She looked at him and asked, "May I stand now and help you?"

He stayed transfixed at her and dazed. He did not move. She felt coldness from his eyes and then she swallowed her saliva. She took the initiative to stand up, picked up the keys and handed it to him. She looked cute and she did not want to upset him so she urged him to carry her like that again. He did not hesitate to carry her like that even though his arms are numb. She looked at his eyes and turned the door knob. He breath a sigh of relief when they entered the room. Sweat formed in his forehead as he gently put her on the bed. They both sat down and looked exhausted. She looked at him worriedly and took her handkerchief out of her purse and wiped his sweat on his forehead. They were both drenched from the rain. He looked at her with glowing warmth. She looked at him and smiled. She felt his eyes staring at her until she felt uneasy somehow.

She felt her hair drip and touched her skin.

He saw her hands tremble from the cold water that drip on her skin.

"..."

"I should take a warm bath." Alex said breaking the awkward silence.

"I have to order soup to warm up. I will check on you later." Alexander stood up, tapped on his phone and left the room. .

Alex stood up and saw his shadow leaving the door. She removed her soaked clothes, left them in the drying rack in the washroom and turned the shower on. She tapped on her phone and played her usual playlist. Her phone was playing "Touch" by Little Mix. As she stepped into the shower, the beat made her dance. She lip-synced the lyrics of the 1st stanza.

"You and I and nobody else..." She imagined holding a microphone.

"Feelings feelings I never felt..." She caress her chest.

"The way you got me under you spell..." She extended her arm like she's reaching for something.

"Don't you keep it all to yourself..." She motioned as if saying no to someone.

Then all of a sudden she sings with her voice echoing in the washroom for the refrain. She was in the chorus when she put her dancing skills to the test. She forgot her ordeal with someone a while ago.

In the restaurant...

Alexander left the room and stood there for minute. He just realized that his actions were abruptly fast. He worriedly put his hands on his face face palming and whispered, "Did I do the right thing?" He shove his thought at the back of his mind and headed to the restaurant to order food for them. Out of the corner of his eye, he spots a familiar figure tapping on a phone. This person was preoccupied playing games in his phone. He recognized this person, his face was lit up by the phone and heard the game announces the start of a battle. He was so immensed in the game, he did not notice a figure approaching him.

"Zach? Is that you?" Alexander asked.

Zach looked at Alexander disappointedly and said, "Yeah. It's me." He sighed.

"Man, I'm so sorry that I left you at the resto's parking lot and left my car for you to drive. I was in a hurry and I was running late so I decided to leave suddenly." Alexander reasoned.

Zach looked at him and wore a smile. He looked at him and said, "At least I got to ride your car. There was one thing I need to tell you though..." His eyes were glued to the screen.

"And what should that be?" Alexander was curious. He knew Zach would play pranks at him when they were teenagers. It does not bother him if Zach teases him today.

"I saw what you did out there..." He pointed at the dock. "Is there something going on between Charles and your plus one?" He asked.

There was an awkward silence.

There was confusion in Alexander's eyes.

Zach looked puzzled when he saw Alexander's face turn sour. He hesitated and changed the subject when he heard Alexander sighed.

"Oh no, my teammates lost one clash battle. I must help them." Zach turned on his game face and looked at the standing of each ally and enemy.

Alexander just looked at his phone screen. He watched how Zach plays one crucial play.

"Ah, so the enemy just killed our front liner and my teammates back out but were chased by the enemy team. Everybody had trouble killing the fed player whose score is 7-0. A hard crowd control would do but we need to set a wave and split push since we lost 5 towers, 2 in the mid, 2 in bot and 1 on top. We also need objectives which is somehow not guaranteed at the moment. Now the fight is 4vs5."

Zach thinks and then his face lit up. He taps on his phone searching for an item that could change the situation.

Alexander just observed and was curious on how Zach plays the game when he remembered that he will order food.

"Zach, I will leave you for a moment and come back when I finish ordering." Alexander excused himself.

Zach looked at him and said, "Ok, see you later." He continued his game and headed on his team to victory.

Alexander heard Zach footsteps and pats him on his shoulder.

"We won." Zach flatly said.

"Oh congratulations." Alexander said and gave him a thumbs up. He went into the counter, showed his order through his phone and sat down in an empty table. Zach sat accross him and held his phone and hid it in his pocket when he saw Alexander's expression change. The atmosphere suddenly turned gloomy when Alexander looked at him and utterly said, "What did you see at the dock a while ago?"
