Chapter 40 - Its watching us.

Fourth and Asuta have barely spoken to one another for quite some time now. Seconds turned into minutes, which felt like they were dragging on.

Asuta: He hasn't said anything. Should I be the one to speak? She whispers to herself as she trails behind fourth.

Fourth: "What are you doing so far back there. Are you starting not to like me?" He gives her this pouty expression and lowers his head.

Asuta again blushes at fourth and tries to find the words, but nothing is coming out.

Fourth lifts his head and lets out a loud laugh. "I'm just messing with you, relax, won't you?" He says with an enormous grin forming on his face.

Asuta doesn't say a word; she pushes past fourth, slightly knocking her shoulder into his, shoving him aside.

Fourth: "Don't be like that."

Asuta starts to walk further away from Fourth. He begins to jog to catch her.

Fourth: "Asuta! Wait up, please. I didn't mean it. I was only making a light-hearted joke."

He finally reaches her and turns her to face him, holding on to her while he catches his breath. "I really need to get in shape."

Asuta tries to turn back around, not wanting Fourth to see her.

Fourth: "Please just hold on." He starts to say something, but he gets distracted by Asuta's face. "She's... she's really blushing. " He then just stares at her. Everything around him begins to fade away. In this exact moment, the only thing he could focus on was her. "I suppose this time we have spent with each other really started to change my perspective on her."

With asutas' face still flushed, she begins to speak, "What uh what perspective is that?"

Fourth jumps back into reality. "Wait, did you hear that!?"

Asuta: "Yes, I heard it. You just said it five seconds ago."

Now, instead of Asuta blushing, Fourth is.

He can feel his face beginning to get hot. He quickly covers his face with his hands to hide his embarrassment. "Fuck, I said that out loud, didn't I?"

Asuta is now laughing; she holds her stomach and lets out a huge laugh, trying to catch her breath in between each laugh.

Fourth: "What's so funny!"

Asuta "It's just." Barely being able to form a sentence, she finally says, "Your face is so red!" Pointing her finger at him.

Fourth: "You're the one to talk, if I recall, moments ago, you looked just like me. So I wouldn't laugh too hard."

Asuta and Fourth now begin to argue back and forth with one another. Neither of them is letting the other have the last say.

As they're calling each other out. Both recollecting moments of back then.

Just as Asuta starts to say something, she's forcibly interrupted by Fourth.

Fourth puts his hand up and motions for Asuta to be quiet. His eyes shift around the long corridor.

Fourth: "Do you hear that?"

Asuta whispers, "I didn't hear anything." Her body begins to tense up in fear, sending chills down her back. Fourth cautiously scans the room, his body still facing the direction of Asuta. His eyes caught a glimpse of something ahead of them.

Fourth: "Asuta, listen to me."

Not saying a word, in acknowledgment of Fourth, he speaks. "Whatever you do. Do not turn around. I repeat, do not turn around. Asuta's eyes widen, and she nods her head.

In the far distance, down the ominous hall facing Fourth, appears a figure, barely able to make out the shape; all he sees is six beady eyes glaring at him.

Asuta, "What are you looking at? " Her voice trembles as she speaks.

Fourth doesn't say anything; he keeps his eyes fixated behind Asuta.

Asuta: He hasn't looked at me. What's happening right now? Should I look behind me? Why does he have that serious tone in his voice? I must know what's happening, but I'm frightened. Her thoughts start to race a mile a minute, though her curiosity had outweighed her fear; at that time, she begins to turn her head. Fourth takes his hand and firmly grabs Asuta's chin, yanking her back to face him.

Fourth sternly speaks, " I told you not to look."

Too stunned to speak again, she just nods her head in agreement.

Fourth: "We are not alone."
