At this point, the onlookers remembered that Ming Mei wasn't one to be trifled with. She had once kicked a door off its hinges. Just because she was pregnant didn't mean that record no longer existed. She still had her strength.
Seeing how calm Ming Mei was, everyone quickly took the opportunity to leave, saying, "It's getting late. We have work tomorrow."
"Exactly, we can't be late. We'll get docked pay." No matter what, they couldn't afford to lose wages. Even if they had to crawl, they'd make it to work.
"It's getting a bit chilly. The wind's picking up."
"Where's the wind? Oh, you mean the weather. I thought you meant... never mind."
"Let's hurry home and get some sleep."
"Right, let's go home and sleep."
As they exchanged these meaningless pleasantries, everyone hurried home.
