Chapter 2 - I wont leave.

The woman turned and started to head back to the window. Without thinking she reached out and grabbed her hand.

"Don't go. I... if you leave I feel as if you will take a part of me with you. A part I don't yet know. For now I can't fly, so be my wings. I.."

She was stopped by the woman's soft laughter. Even though she laughed when she spoke next her voice sounded as if she was crying. Though there was no longer any sadness shown on her face.

" Why would you need me to be your wings, when you have your own?" Her soft laughter filled the room. "Don't worry, I will not leave you yet. I will leave when the sun sets on the first day of the new year. Or if you can fly before then"

If she remembered correctly the doctor had said today was June second. That gave her six months. That hardly seemed like enough time to her but she could not complain or ask for more. She had agreed to spend half a year of her life with someone she didn't even know. Asking for more would be beyond selfish, though she couldn't help but wonder why she chose that date.

"Think no more and rest now." The woman made her way to the window sill and sat down. Tonight was a new moon, yet she gazed intensely at where the moon should have been and sang.

" Right now my light is weak.

But maybe still it'll reach,

through the darkness that you're in

and put your mind at ease.

There's not much, can be done.

Since I am no sun.

There isn't much my light can touch,

though maybe it can guide you.

Patient as I am,

I will wait forever

but my light grows dim.

Forever may be never

So before it goes out

And I have to start anew.

Maybe

Just maybe

I'll reach you..."

As soon a she started singing the girl started to feel drowsy. Whispering a thank you she fell asleep before the song was finished .

The girl woke up already smiling  and looked towards the window. No one was there. She looked around the room in a panick. Why wasn't she there. She started to worry she had dreamt the whole thing. Everything was so clear in her mind. She remembered everything that happened. There was no way she had dreamt it up. Then again if it were a dream it would explain why there was no detailed features about the woman. Her heart sank further the more she thought about it. So she pulled the covers up around her. Accepting the fact that she was alone again; or rather was she never not alone. Just as she was on the verge of tears there was a fluttering of wings. She refused to allow herself to hope so she didn't bother to look, summing the sound up to a bird. A breeze entered the room briefly but was cut off suddenly.  Then the room fell silent. Thinking it odd the girl had to force down her hope as she peeked from behind the covers. There sat the woman in the windowsill staring off into the distance. The woman caught her looking and smiled. This time it was easier to make out her face even though the light was still strong. The woman stood and walked towards her.
