Chapter 2 - Close to me

"Hey, where are you taking me? You're hurting my hand, let go!" Celesta said angrily, and obviously irritated by Prince Ryker's action.

"You talk too much." Prince Ryker said, with his signature poker face. He ran at a speed Celeste could not catch up with, taking Long strides with his slander legs conveniently. Celeste breathed heavily, unable to catch up with his pace but was forced to, since he was grasping onto her hand tightly.

Finally, Prince Ryker stopped running and they ended up in a open field in front of a lake that reflected the moon and the thousands of stars which were in the sky. He sat down on the dewy grass comfortably and sighed.

"I'm going to miss this place." He mumbled quietly under his breath but it was loud enough for Celeste to hear it. "Why are we here?" Celeste asked.

" Can't you just take a moment to enjoy the peacefulness here? Relax, try to admire the scenery." Price Ryker said. He pointed at one of the millions of stars in the sky and continued," That's why we Astrions moved to Earth. Only planet was overcrowded so some of the Astrions were suffering from lack of food, which led to starvation. We did some research and found out that your planet was quite a decent one. Just that it needed some polishing and changes because of what you humans call 'global warming'."

"You think that's a good excuse to invade our planet?! You should've left us to die here rather than come and torture most of the human population!" Celeste fumed and snapped back at Prince Ryker. She stood up, stepped back and used her arm to wipe away a tear that formed in her eye. She did not want to recall the memory of losing her grandmother. Instead of arguing with Celeste, he smirked and pulled her hand down, making Celeste fall onto his lap.

Their faces were barely an inch apart, and Ryker said," I wouldn't want you to die." Celeste's big, amber eyes stared into Ryker's pure blue eyes and at that moment, there was silence. Not a single word came out from their mouths. Celeste's heart rate was increasing by the second, she felt as if a hundred butterflies were in her stomach fluttering nonstop. Her face was burning up and she thought," Do I have a fever?"

At this moment, Celeste could not stand the tension anymore. She got up hastily and said nervously," Um... I've got to uh... go now. There isn't uh...any time left. I'll be late and my... my family will worry and not to mention, they are hungry! So, bye!" She ran back to her house and her heart was beating wildly. Was it because she had ran such a long distance back, or was it because of him? She hated herself for feeling that way and reminded herself that he was an Astrion.

Prince Ryker, on the other hand, was smiling all the way back home. When he thought of how near she was to him, even he couldn't help but to cover his mouth slightly and prevent his brothers from spotting his different expression. " What an interesting girl, huh?" He asked himself.
