Chapter 4 - IV

Days passed while Alex is waiting for her wound to heal and her body to fully recover. Boredom is hitting her each passing day. She wants to do something she does not know. Maybe, helping Natalie with some household chores. She is too young to do especially kitchen chores though, Simon helps her. She looks over her wound. She feels lesser pain now and gets used to that stingy medicine Simon uses to cure her. She can move, comfortably on the bed, but still can't use her legs for exerting more force like balancing her body.

"I can't take walking this far every day just to go to school."

"Perhaps, Natalie drops out. Do you think she's here?"

She can hear other voices coming near then, steps coming to her room.

"You know what to do," it is Simon's voice in a hurry.

"Okay. Don't worry," Natalie answers then, she hears steps going away.

"Hey," Simon calls.

"Hey!" She is astonished to see Simon comes in, wrapped only in a towel.

"Sorry." He approaches her. "I need to bring you to my room. They should not know we have a company here." He lifts her with arms supporting her back and legs. This lets her smell the soap on his body.

Simon puts her on his bed, gently. He massages his nape and looks worried.

"Natalie's friends?" She asks trying not to stare at this man's body. She would not deny the fact that he has these well-toned muscles. It only proves what Natalie has told her about his brother's charm.

"Her classmates and one of her teachers."

"She's schooling?" She is surprised to know about it. She is staying here for more than a week, but Natalie never went to school. The realization hits her. "Did she stop because of me?" She may not remember who she is and her past, but she knew that education is a must for everyone. It seems like Natalie sacrifices her studies over her.

"Not really. It was her choice."

"Still because of me," she insisted. Natalie wasted her time taking care of her and leaving behind her studies.

"It's no one's fault. She never liked school."

She looks at him, surprised. No kid will dislike schooling. It is a place where they can study, make friends and have fun. She wanted to ask him why, but then, she remembered Natalie talking about their parents. That perhaps is the reason and she has no right to butt in with that. An idea comes up in her mind. She knows now how to make up with Natalie and pay for her efforts taking care of her. She responds to him with several nods.

"I think, you have to finish bathing," she sounds hesitant.

Simon looks over his body and realizes what he was wearing in front of her. He almost forgot that he was taking a bath when her sister stormed into his room in a hurry. He got no time to put on some clothes.

"Sorry." He smiles at her, tentatively. Alex responds with a nod, both brows raised. She doesn't seem to be too affected by the sight of him and that is good.

"Didn't see Simon around," they heard a woman speak up outside the room. "Where is he? He couldn't be leaving you here all alone."

Simon's wry smile upon hearing the woman's voice didn't escape her eyes. That intrigues her a bit and at the same time, amused by his reaction.

"Well, he is sleeping at this moment. He was from a hunt this morning," Natalie lies yet she sounds so firm in her words.

"Oh, is it? I was hoping to see him and discuss your schooling."

"It's okay, Ms. Valer. You can discuss it with me then, I'll tell my brother later when he woke up."

"How kind of you, Talie. You're such a lovely girl."

"Thanks, Teacher."

"Ouch!"

They hear something fall on the floor and followed by the clinking of a broken object. She looks at Simon, but he did not even move. His face shows he does not care at all.

"Ms. Valer, be careful." It's Natalie. She became confused about what could be happening. Seems like Ms. Valer is not on good terms with this man, but she is not in the right place to ask or middle in this. She is only here while still in the process of healing.

"Oh, my gosh, Talie. Simon must be mad that I broke this vase."

"I'm hoping not. Don't worry, I can explain to him."

After Natalie, silence reigned in the house. No movements or anything that they can hear outside Simon's room. She is beginning to think if Natalie and her companions are okay.

"Teacher?" Then, Natalie asks.

"Maybe, I should go back the other day. Tell your brother, I came here. Okay?" The teacher said and she sounded like commanding Natalie. They don't hear Natalie's answer. Footsteps started to walk away. After a few minutes, there is a knock on Simon's room. Simon opens the door.

"Tell your brother I came here. Duh." Natalie enters while mimicking someone then, rolls her eyes. "I'm a student. Why should she be insisting on you? If I know that slut."

"Watch your mouth," Simon stops her in a firm voice. "Wash the vegetables," he then, commands her.

Natalie's brows knitted looking at Simon, to Alex then, back to him. "And Alex?"

"I'll just finish taking a bath then, will bring her back to her room. Okay?" Then, he goes to the bathroom.

"Wow!" Natalie smiles at Alex.

"Why?"

"Nothing. It's just now that happens he let someone stay in his room this long. He doesn't even let me clean his room."

Is she jealous or something?

It is reasonable to bring and hide Alex in his brother's room and now Alex knew why in Simon's room when he could bring her in Natalie's room.

"Natalie, the vegetables," Simon shouts from the bathroom.

Natalie scratches her nape and feels sorry for Alex. She still can't move alone.

"I'll be okay," Alex has to assure her. She can see how kind Natalie is. Her brother is so lucky to have a sister like her.

"Okay, okay! I'm doing it," Natalie shouts back before leaving the room but she peeks again. "If there's anything you'll gonna need, just call me okay?"

"I will," Alex smiles at her.

Alex stares at the ceiling with her thoughts beginning to flood.

What if her wound is healed completely but she still has not remembered anything about her? Until now, there is not even a glimpse of her memory. It is like being removed from her.

Impossible.

How would she live without her memory? If there is someone after her life, how will she know who could that be? The poison contained in that arrow that pierced her thigh is not an ordinary one. She may not remember everything about her but she knows a lot of things which is quite weird. A lot of knowledge floats in her head. It is like being stocked there for a long time.
