Chapter 104 - 104

Nevan intercepts Cora before she can get to the clinic.

"It wouldn't be a good idea to go in there right now, you're not ready yet," said Nevan.

Cora's eyebrows furrow,- "What do you mean? I need to find my brother,"

Nevan sighs,- "This is what I'm talking about, you haven't even sniffed them out yet and are just going to go walking in there and be completely off-guard and at their mercy," shaking his head.

Cora's eyes glow, wolfing out as she attempts to rush in head first without thinking of the consequences, wishing to avenge her brother.

Nevan steps in front of her, eyes squinting down at her- "Really? you're going to ignore me now?"

"I need to know what happened to my brother! And you won't help!" Cora shouted angrily. Futility pushing against his immovable form.

"You disappoint me Cora, what have I been teaching you?" Asked Nevan.

"Answer me!" Growled Nevan, eyes glowing as he drops her to the knees with his pressure, putting her back in human form.

"I... to become one with the wolf, to rely on my natural instincts," she said with watery eyes, thinking the worst might have happened to her brother.

"But how long will it take me to be able to face an Alpha?" Asked Cora feeling indigent.

"You're not that far off, you have in fact grown in spades since I've taken you in, but it's clear now that you're still not ready yet," he said looking at her head turn downward with clenched fists.

He continues,- "Not only did you lose reason, but you disregarded your wolf instincts, you failed to sniff out what happened to your brother, you failed to sniff out the enemy inside, you failed to listen to the danger sense you should feel when facing a superior or dangerous foe... Not far off, but not close either."

Cora's head dipped lower with each admonition.

"Go home and rest, your brother is likely out there licking his wounded pride, he'll be back when he's good and ready, and I expect you up early and ready for a much tougher training session this weekend," said Nevan.

Cora's head snapped up as if to look for the truth in his words,- "Fine, as long as he isn't dead or captured, I had to make sure," she said ending it with a softer tone.

"I won't repeat myself," said Nevan. Waiting for her to get up, brush off her knees, giving him one last look before leaving contented, that is until she saw Kali storming out of the clinic.

Their eyes meet and they both lose themselves to rage, wolfing out with a challenging roar, charging one another.

Nevan sighs as Cora rushes past him but lets her go. This would be a good chance for her to learn a harsh lesson.

They both leap at one another, colliding in midair with a thud with no clear winner. Falling to the ground, they claw and scratch at each other while scrambling back to their feet. Kali gets the upper hand as she sends a swift kick from a crouched position, hitting Cora straight in the nose, breaking it.

Seeing another kick coming, Cora rolls back dodging it as she manages to get back to her feet.

Squaring off, Kali growls,- "I'm going to enjoy tearing you limb for limb and sending the pieces to your brother."

Cora wipes the blood from her nose, spitting off to the side,- "Give it a shot, I have a feeling today's the day I become an Alpha!" She roared rushing Kali.

Closing the gap Cora quickly finds herself at a disadvantage as Kali's Alpha strikes come in fast and accurate while dancing around her slower-moving beta strikes.

Nevan begins to develop a small scowl as he watches Cora's static movements. It seems training could only do so much before one had to seek out a proper opponent to face off against, a lacking in his training program., What she needed was a proper training partner, something he could not provide at the moment. He made a mental note to find someone worthy to join her.

"Cora!" Nevan shouted angrily.

Hearing her name, Cora briefly glanced over right as Kali came in with a claw strike to the face, sending her tumbling away.

Kali then took the time to see who shouted, spotting him standing there arrogantly with his arms crossed as if their fight was beneath him.

"I don't know who you are but your next!" Growled Kali, ignoring him for now.

Giving a bloody ragged Cora just enough time to get back to her feet and collect herself. Nevan's shout was just what she needed to enter back into a calmer state. Taking a slow deep breath in, and out, she regains control over her emotions.

Steady golden eyes then met raged-filled red eyes as Kali turned her attention back to Cora. The sister of the one who was responsible for Ennis's injured predicament.

Again they met as Kali came in swinging wide, allowing the much calmer Cora to easily duck and counter. Slicing a good size gash across her right side as she stepped through. Quickly spinning around to slash at her exposed back as Kali was still reeling from the surprise of the first hit.

"You bitch! I'm going to make your death more agonizing than you can possibly imagine!" Kali furiously shouted as she spun back around with an abrupt backhand that had enough strength to put a blocking Cora off-balance.

With a burst of speed, Kali closed the distance with a superman strike keeping her from finding her feet as she stumbled backward trying to remain upright only for Kali to follow up with a straight kick sending her flying to the floor, rolling away.

Kali confidently strolled forward, stretching her claws out angrily by her sides,- "How dare a weak worthless Beta challenge me!" She growled.

A tired beaten Cora not willing to give up yet, climbed back up to her feet,- "You think this is a Beta challenge? Don't make me laugh, Beta's only challenge real Alpha's, not other underlings. You're nothing but a mockery of an Alpha." She spat, hitting her pride right where it hurt.

That made Nevan grin as Kali grew infuriated, roaring madly as she charged,- "I'll Kill You! Filthy Beta Waste!"

"Bring it Alpha trash!" Cora yelled meeting her blow for blow irritating Kali further as she couldn't smack her down as easily as before for some reason.

Cora was doing a much better job of avoiding hits and rolling with the ones that came through so they didn't hit nearly as hard while chaining her own combos. Her movements became much more fluid as she let her instincts take over, something Kali was incapable of doing while enraged.

Still, even with all that, Cora was at the end of her ropes. She took far too much damage at the beginning before she could get a handle on her emotions.

Nevan seeing things coming to an end was more than pleased with how it ended. Zooming over, he swept Cora away right before Kali got in a potential finishing blow.

"What!" Exclaimed Kalia as she spun every which way trying to find where she went.

"Where Are You! Show Yourself! You Cowardly Bitch!" Kali Yelled Furiously.

After a while of silence, she remembered the guy who she ignored, searching for him to no avail, and a nasty thought popped into her head,- "Vampire." He had to be, and a strong one at that. There was nothing else that could explain that kind of speed.

Werewolves were stronger but vampires were faster, it came down to whether or not the werewolves could get their hands on the vampires.

Werewolves of this generation could handle regular vampires with varying degrees of success with Alphas being the main force in dealing with them, their bite a deadly poison to them, while Betas mostly struggle to survive.

The powerful ones however were not something they could contend with alone. It usually was up to the Betas to help slow down and trap them so their Alpha can finish them off.
