"They have arrived," Baishe whispered, his low voice cutting through the heavy silence of the room like a blade.
The intruders currently creeping into Bai Xifeng's courtyard were indeed cultivators. However, their cultivation levels were significantly lower than Baishe's ancient, overwhelming power. Because of this massive gap in strength, Baishe had detected their presence the very moment their feet touched the ground inside the perimeter wall.
"Take care of them." Bai Xifeng murmured sleepily, her voice muffled by her pillow. "But don't you dare kill them inside this room. I don't want a mess."
With that casual command, the woman currently using the name Bai Xifeng simply turned over, pulling the covers up and falling back into a deep sleep beside Xiao Li. Baishe stood there for a moment, truly speechless. 'Is this woman afraid of nothing?' He wondered, shaking his head. 'How can she just drift back to sleep knowing men have come specifically to do her harm?' He let out a long, weary sigh and prepared himself to intercept the intruders.
As the men approached the building, they felt a surge of unearned confidence. They believed this job would be incredibly easy, a simple walk in the park. To their knowledge, the girl living in this courtyard was a useless person who possessed no cultivation to speak of. As for her sole maid, they were certain she was at the lowest possible level of power. In their eyes, neither of them posed even the slightest threat.
When the men finally breached the room, slipping through the door like shadows, they saw the girl sleeping soundly. They grinned at each other in the dark, their eyes glinting with greed. It was indeed a simple task. All they had to do was locate the hidden money, and their work for the night would be finished.
"Boss, this woman is actually quite good-looking. Perhaps, before we leave, we could..."
The man did not even get the chance to finish his sentence. Before he could utter another word, he lost consciousness and slumped heavily to the floor.
"What? What just happened?" Another man hissed in a sudden panic, his eyes darting wildly around the shifting shadows of the room.
"Calm down! We are not alone in here." The leader whispered, scanning the darkness with newfound caution.
The other man followed suit, his heart hammering against his ribs. The leader's gaze flickered back to the bed, noticing that Bai Xifeng was merely shifting comfortably in her sleep, seemingly oblivious to the brewing chaos.
"Who's there? Show yourself!" The leader demanded in a low, gravelly voice, trying to mask his fear.
"Since you've dared to enter this place, do not expect to leave with your lives." Baishe replied. His voice was cold, merciless, and seemed to vibrate from the very walls.
Before they could even reach for their weapons, Baishe seized both men and hurled them out of the room with terrifying, effortless force. The two men hit the dirt outside with a sickening thud, coughing up mouthfuls of blood as the impact shattered their ribs like dry twigs. It was a brutal testament to Baishe's monstrous physical strength.
"Tsk. You are getting blood everywhere. My master explicitly said she dislikes that." Baishe muttered, frowning deeply as he looked at the crimson stains blooming on the ground.
Baishe decided not to waste any more time on these pests. Moving with lethal, blurred precision, he ended their lives in a single instant. Once the grim job was done, he gathered the three lifeless bodies together.
"She did not specify what to do with the remains. Well, I suppose I will just do things my way." Baishe decided with a dark, contemplative nod.
He took the three corpses and prepared to distribute them as "gifts" across the estate. The first body was delivered silently to Old Madam Bai's courtyard. The second was dropped in the middle of Second Madam Bai's quarters. The third and final body he tossed directly into Bai Chunhua's courtyard.
A satisfied, predatory smile crossed his face. He could already imagine how lively and chaotic the mansion would become when the inhabitants woke up to find these gruesome "presents" the next morning. His task complete, he returned to Xifeng's courtyard.
His eyes fell upon a few stubborn spots of blood remaining on the floor. He stared at the red stains for a long moment, his brow furrowed in annoyance, before finally fetching some clean water to scrub away the mess and the lingering, metallic stench of blood.
