Chapter 20 - What Waits at the End of the Road

Hello.

If you're reading this, then you've reached the end of my very first book.

So—thank you.

Sorry?

You're welcome?

I'm not entirely sure which one applies.

I genuinely can't even guess how you feel about what you just read. Was it good? Bad? Terrible? Or somehow the best thing that ever landed in your lap (figuratively speaking—hopefully)? I honestly can't tell.

What I do know is this: you stayed until the end. And that means more than I can properly explain.

This story took time to write—time stolen between work, life, and the occasional existential spiral. It was fun, stressful, confusing, exciting, and occasionally made me question why I thought writing a book was a good idea in the first place. For a long while, it also felt like something no one would ever read.

And yet… here you are.

That's kind of amazing.

As I mentioned in the synopsis, this story is only a small corner of a much larger universe that's been living in my head for a long time. My brain, unfortunately, insists that before I can tell stories, I must first build the world they live in—properly, carefully, and absolutely not by winging it.

So I did.

And then I got impatient.

This book is, in many ways, me peeking at that world early—like a kid admiring a sandcastle just before deciding to jump on it and see what breaks.

So… what's next?

Time.

For now, I'm letting this story breathe. I'll keep imagining, building, and writing—but I won't be publishing for a bit, not until it feels right. This book was written first and foremost for me, and shared in case anyone else wanted to enjoy the ride. Fame was never the goal.

(Though I won't pretend money wouldn't be nice.)

Maybe I'll start hammering the next one into shape soon. Rellin, at least, insists that we need to start pushing these things out like hotcakes—because clearly, if there are many of them, people will assume they're good by default.

Who am I to argue with a merchant?

If you made it this far: thank you for walking the road with me.

I hope you enjoyed the journey.
