Leanunya watched as the old man and others got in the wagon driving off after saying goodbye to them and offering their thanks for the help. She looked at Wolferan who watched them disappear from view. He then turned to her and spoke.
"Want to have lunch now since we are already here?" She sighed and nodded, "I guess. Why didn't you let me help?" Wolferan looked at her, "you are injured. Now, I am curious why you wanted to help them?" She spoke, "They needed help, there was only an old man and two women like they could get out of the mud."
Wolferan took the bag off his back moving to the side of the road while asking, "Tell me again why you wanted to help them. This time don't lie." Leanunya looked at her and sighed following him to the side of the road, "they needed help and we could help them." Wolferan sighed, "again another lie now tell me the real reason you wanted to help them."
Leanunya sat down and spoke, "you tell me the real reason you didn't want me to help and I'll tell you the truth." Wolferan sighed, "I told the truth. You are hurt so you shouldn't exert yourself, you'll only hurt yourself even more. I do have my morals." She blinked and after a moment lowered her head, "I wanted to help because they needed it and it was doubtful if anyone else would help… Ive…"
Leanunya looked away, flicking her tail, "it doesn't matter." Wolferan looked at her before holding out some food for her, "you never had others help you before so you wanted to help them."
Leanunya jerked her head up looking at him eyes wide. She didn't believe what he said for a moment. She then grabbed the food and turned her back to him, now ignoring him. She flicked her tail back and forth with her ears pinned while she ate the food given to her. She could hear Wolferan chuckling from behind her and lowered her head.
She heard Wolferan speak, "sorry but that reaction was actually cute, just like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar. Either way I see nothing wrong with your reason why you wanted to help them. I probably would have helped them even if you hadn't spoken up."
Leanunya lashed her tail eating her food, not giving a reply. She didn't want to reply to what he said. She felt humiliated that he knew what she had been meaning to say and called her actions cute. She wasn't going to give him any reply, especially to that. She sat eating her food, her back to Wolferan.
"Apologies, I didn't mean to upset you. If in the future when it can be confirmed you only killed bad people I'll help you and answer any question you've got, ok?" Still not getting a reply, wolferan spoke again, "Leanunya, I realize you didn't have the best childhood but there are still good people out there. I can tell from this short time traveling, you have believed you killed only bad men and so perhaps even if not all the people you killed were bad people there is a chance to turn you onto the right path."
Leanunya spun and glared at him even as she winced from her broken wing, "what would you know about me?! You know absolutely nothing about me!" She hissed even as she held her right side where her ribs were broken. Wolferan took a moment before speaking, "you are right I don't know a lot about you but you can tell me."
Leanunya stood lashing her tail, "Why the hell would I tell you anything?! You'd only use it against me! You are a bounty hunter!" She held her side in pain. Wolferan blinked, "I.." He sighed. "I am only a bounty hunter to keep my mind straight and remind myself there is evil in the world. I can't promise I wouldn't use what you told me against you but I can say if you are true to your word about not killing innocent people I wouldn't use it to hurt you."
She hissed,"Lies! As if I would trust anything you said! You were the one who broke my ribs and my wing!" Wolferan looks at her, "you're right, my apologies." She hissed, "why do you keep saying that?!"
Before he could reply she started to stalk off. She only got as far as five meters due to his spell and felt like her airway was being restricted before she hit her back straight onto the ground. She yelped from the pain and rolled over so her broken wing wasn't under her. She whimpered trying to get her breath back even as Wolferan went to her side and tried to help her up.
She hissed, "get off me!"
She smacked his hands away with her right arm despite the agonizing pain it caused her and she sat up. She tried to focus on taking shallow gasps of air, squeezing her eyes shut. She held her right side trying to minalize her pain from the sudden fall onto her back. She slowly caught her breath back and calmed her breathing.
She opened her eyes and saw Wolferan looking at her with his eyes wide and a look on his face that gave the look of concern. She glared at him vehemently at him feeling the strong desire to kill him. If it weren't for him she wouldn't be in such a situation. This was the most humiliating situation she had ever been in. She had shown her weakness in front of him.
She glared at him and when he tried to help her up again to go sit by his bag, she snapped. She leapt at him hissing in anger, clawing at his eyes. Wolferan was caught off guard and jumped back even as Leanunya claws at him. She hissed as she attacked him wanting to kill him. Within a few moments though she was wrapped in Wolferan arms and trapped.
She struggles hissing, "Let go!" Wolferan grunted, "calm down." Leanunya hissed, "Let me go you bastard!"
She claws struggling to break free from his arms. She was too angry to even think straight. She claws at him panting trying to get free but after a long while ran out of energy and slumped in his arms not even fighting him anymore. She was still angry but more calmed down.
Wolferan finally let her go and she slumped to the ground panting both from the pain and anger that dissipated from her. She took short breaths looking away from Wolferan trying to calm down. She felt so overwhelmed.
She just wanted to have her own home and not have to be persecuted. She didn't want any of this. She didn't want to be a wanted criminal nor be caught. She sighed and took a breath to calm herself knowing she was just having wishful thinking that would never come true. For as long as she lived she would never have the life she wanted so she might as well accept the truth.
She looked at Wolferan with a glare even as he looked at her seemingly ready to help her or back away. She stood up and walked back over to his bag and sat ignoring him. She sat looking at the forest, her expression ice cold. She had seen Wolferan follow her back over to his bag and could still feel his gaze on her.
She was in great agony but remained silent, only her holding her side, her clenched jaw and slight trembling showing how much pain she was in. She lashed her tail managing the pain determined to stay silent. She breathed shallowly to lessen the pain with some success. She then heard Wolferan speak.
"Here take this, it'll help with the pain."
She kept her back to him and wolferan went and stood in front of her. He held out a pain pill and a canteen. She turned her gaze away stubbornly.
"Take the pill please." Getting no response he continued, "my apologies, this is my fault." She glared at him, "Stop saying; my apologies. There is a better word; You can say sorry you know. And yes this is your fault, all of it; My broken ribs and broken wing…" She looked away trying to keep her anger in check.
Wolferan sighed, "my apol- I'm sorry. I didn't mean to break your ribs and I didn't even know you had wings. I was only trying to capture you. You are not an easy person to catch. I should have warned you about the magic and I shouldn't have kept pushing you. Would you take the pain pill now? I can tell you are in a great deal of pain even if you are trying to hide it."
Leanunya scowled but after a moment took the pill and canteen from his outstretched hands. She then took the pain pill and drank some of the water from the canteen. She then handed the canteen back to him and turned her gaze away from him. Even though she turned her gaze away she could still see him in peripheral vision as he nodded slightly with a soft look. She lashed her tail hating the look she had seen from him.
She didn't want to see someone's pity; she didn't need it. She lashed her tail frustrated. She was upset by her own weakness and being seen through. She didn't want others to see her pains or her sorrows nor did she want them to get close to her. She had long become used to being alone even if she wanted to talk with others she didn't want them to get close. She wanted to keep others at arms length so they wouldn't see her sorrows.
Even when she had been training Nagos she had kept him at a distance. She had only allowed him to see what she wanted him to see. She never shared her thoughts other than with his training. She didn't want to be seen as weak as that could cause her danger and she didn't want that danger. But now, here she was in the exact position she didn't want to be in.
