"It's nothing much, just some occasional nagging. Maybe I was a bit annoying when I was a teenager," Jasmine Yale said with a smile.
"Teenage girls can be a little annoying indeed. Bringing back gifts from classmates every now and then, going out to have late-night snacks with male classmates," Sylvan Cheney raised an eyebrow, his gaze holding an unclear meaning.
"I didn't!" Jasmine retorted, truly annoyed. Was this man planning to remember these things for the rest of his life?
She muttered under her breath, "You don't give me gifts yourself, but you wouldn't allow others to give me gifts either? And anyway, I didn't accept them; I returned them all."
"Oh, so it's my fault?"
"Of course, it's your fault."
Sunlight poured down from above, casting flecks of golden light on Jasmine Yale's brows, shimmering like tiny fragments of gold.
As she spoke, she walked toward the swing set.
