Chapter 442 - Let's talk when we're rested

"I cannot do this Sam. You really hurt me with what you did." Chen said, getting out some words before her throat closed up.

Sam put his hands together in a pleading motion as he said, "I know Chen. I know. And I wish I could take it all back, but I can't." "Chen, you always said that everyone deserves a second chance, didn't you. Don't I deserve one too?" Same added as a last resort.

Yu Chen shook her head and stood up, tears pooling at the corner of her eyes. "I've had a very long and traumatic day Sam. Let's talk tomorrow. When we're both rested a bit." she said, moving away before Sam could again grab her hand.

"But Chen . . . " he tried once again, but stopped when a nurse came in with a food tray for Sam to have dinner. Yu Chen took advantage of this opportunity to slip out and was very surprised to see Si Xia leaning on the wall beside the door.

"How long have you been standing here?" Chen asked, her voice accusing. Si Xia shrugged as he led her to a bench and said, "A while." "Why didn't you come in?!" she asked again, looking worried. Si Xia hated Sam with a passion, even more after what he had done, so Chen was afraid that he would be angry.

But Si Xia only replied with, "Didn't seem like my place." before handing Chen a bottle of orange juice. "Sorry. They didn't have any shakes." he added, as Chen looked down at the bottle in her hands.

"This is fine. Thanks." she replied and unscrewed the bottle to take a long swig as Xia took off his jacket and wrapped it around her shoulders.

Yu Chen mumbled another thanks as he settled into the bench beside her. She handed the bottle to Xia,who shook his head at first, but took the bottle upon getting a glare from Chen.

"Did you have dinner?" Chen asked, as she pushed her hands into Xia's jacket and felt comforted by his smell enveloping her. Si Xia replied as he took out his phone from his pocket, "Not yet. I was about to leave for an event when you called." As he frowned at something at his mobile.

"Oh right! You had that business dinner tonight. I'm so sorry I made you miss it." Chen exclaimed, remembering their conversation from this morning. God! Had it been only this morning? It seemed like a lifetime had passed.

"It's not a big deal. Chuan went in my stead." Xia turned his head to stare into Chen's green eyes, "You are more important than any business dinner anyway."

Yu Chen nodded as her face turned a light shade of pink.

The two sunk into a companiable silence as Yu Chen inhaled the bottle of juice. All the emotions had drained out of her now that everyone was safe, and Chen's body was aching all over. And her stomach had been fine when she hadn't eaten anything, but now that her stomach had got a morsel of food, it was protesting and asking to be filled.

"Let's go." Chen looked up as Si Xia stood up and offered his hand. "Huh?" Chen asked blinking, "Aren't we waiting for Xiao Hai's family?"
