Summer Ford noticed Ethan Laurent's expression wasn't right, and she knew he had misunderstood without needing to think.
She subtly glanced at his face, a bit astonished, but didn't say anything.
"Who are you buying it for a date with?" Ethan tightened his grip on the book, his knuckles protruding prominently as he squeezed.
When he said this, his face was unpleasant, each word cold and deep like the wind from a basement.
Summer really wanted to retort.
Didn't he see the big 'Business' written on the cover?
"It's none of your business." She didn't bother to explain and snatched the book from his hand, placing it back in her pile.
Holding the book, she continued towards her room.
"Stop!" came Ethan's shout from behind.
Summer ignored him, continuing to walk with her book in hand.
From start to finish, her pace didn't falter, neither speeding up nor slowing down.
"I said, stop!" Ethan's voice echoed again.
