Chapter 8 - Ch 3.1

Towering over Rin and Avery, the Terrain beasts loudly roared that sent shockwaves for miles to the starter city.

"I hope you two are okay." Sasha thought, hearing the loud roars.

Back at the Desert, Rin and Avery fly up to one of the Terrain Beasts and blasts it with powerful beam attacks. However, it wasn't effective by their attacks. "Crap… this isn't right. I thought I programmed it to have its head as its weakness. Was it the back of the head?" Rin thought as he and Avery floated in front of the Terrain Beast.

Suddenly, the Terrain Beast opened its mouth and got ready to attack. "Oh No… Avery! Get out of here!" Rin yelled as he rushed to Avery's side. However, he wasn't quick enough, and they both were engulfed by the Terrain Beast's attack.

In the Real World, the board members of Murakami Games were looking at a live video feed of the Beta. Suddenly, they saw the massive Terrain Beasts making their way to the starter village.

"What the heck is that?" One of the board members yelled at someone from the development team.

"Uh, sorry sir. I don't know. There's nothing like in the notes left by Rin. And no one can read his personal notes. They're written in some strange code." A Computer Programmer said, nervously.

"What? Aren't you the one who said that you're smarter than Rin? Why can't you decipher his code?" A female board member asked.

"Well… uh… there was some kind of outside interference when I tried to access the inner code working to the game. I couldn't even access the interface system of the watches to lock the other players in the game like you asked."

"What?! You assured us that you did that before the Beta event launched!"

The programmer stayed silent as she hid behind her tablet. The board members sighed. "Okay, but to make sure… Rin is trapped, right?"

"Yes, the E-Document you had him signed was able to hack into his FIG Interface watch. Unfortunately, we couldn't copy the Data from it because of the vast amount of data on it."

The board members sat there silently. "Is there a way to download the data while he's trapped in the game?"

Meanwhile back in the Game, Rin and Avery— inside the belly of the beast— sparks a fire to have some kind of light. "So, are you back to normal now? Or do I still need to be on guard?" Avery asked.

"Well, the fact that I tried to save you should be your answer." Rin said.

"Right, because the inside of this Terrain Beast is saving me. You know how I am with tight spaces." Avery said as she began to breathe heavily.

"Woah, Avery calm down. I'm right here. Grab my hand and close your eyes. Imagine yourself is a vast spac…

"RIN! Stop talking. Just find some way out of here!"

"Well, there's tw…

"Don't you dare suggest something like that!"

"Just trying to lighten the mood and help you keep your mind off your claustrophobia." Rin said as he stood up and summoned dual swords to his hands.

Getting into a stance, he radiated a powerful aura. Swinging the swords sideways, Rin released an energy wave attempting to cut open a hole in its stomach. Unfortunately, it didn't work. "Huh, that didn't go like I thought it would." Rin thought.

"RIN!"

Rin sighs. "I didn't want to use this because of the strain on my body. But Avery needs to get out." He thought as he hands out, creating a large ball of energy. "Argh!" he yells firing the energy ball, creating a large hole. "Great…now we can— Suddenly, the hole began to close up. "Oh no," Rin though as he suddenly fell to a knee. "Avery, I've made an opening. Get out while you can." He said as he struggled to stay on his knee.

"What?" Avery asks as she looked at the large hole and Rin on his knee.

"Quick Avery!" Rin yells.

Pushing through her fear, Avery quickly grabs Rin and jumps out of the hole before it closes. Crashing into the ground, Avery and Rin lay there, exhausted.
