Chapter 21 - Dreaded family reunion 2

Dana screamed until she could scream no more then she collapsed to the ground in a heap of sobs. She had thrashed to control the rahe but she soon realised it was rage worse than the one she had felt at the helplessness she had felt when Sasha died. Murdered in cold blood by a sociopathic lunatic who thinks she fancied standing by his side!

Sasha is gone . . .

She is no more . . .

Even as her mind welcomes the darkness, her soul longed for Sasha and she couldn't understand why it had to be her. Why all those people felt that killing people she cared for would warrant them her most reasonable compliance.

And then the electricity . . . Where did that come from? She couldn't dwell on it as she succumbed to the darkness

.

Nick and Sally were left dumbfounded and shocked. It seems that there is always something new to learn about Dana, not forgetting the part where the dangers and threats leveled up with every new discovery. When did she start conducting electricity? It was a question they both shared which they couldn't dwell on right now as her health and safety became a priority. Nick still had reservations about touching her with bare hands seeing that human flesh in not immune to raw current.

Sally flew to the basement to collect yellow plastic gloves and came back with one pair already occupied by her own hands and passed the other pair to Nick.

"Nick, is it safe to take her to the bed?" Sally asked considering the fact that the bed is cotton and silk, nothing insulative from electricity.

"I'm going to honestly say that I don't know Sally but what I know is that we cant just let her . . . sleep onthe hard floor like this" Nick didn't exactly know the right way to phrase it but he knew for a fact that he won't let her come to be on the floor. It just seemed wrong and Sally knew he has a point.

"Grab her feet and I'll take the hands" Sally instructed to Nick, they shared a look and Nick smiled.

He smiled because he knew that Sally taking the hands would mean she will have to be the first one up the stairs and they both knew she took that decision in the spur of the moment, she wasn't going to stick by it when push came to shove.

Sally gave out an bemused look after it also dawned on her. They took her up the stairs to her room, Nick opened the curtains and windows wide to let the rays of sunlight stream in. They sat there in pensive silence when they saw it fit to adress the real issue at hand.

"Maybe your mother was right Nick . . . I mean this is beyond our mortal comprehension" Sally said with a grave voice.

"Not now Sally, not here" he said looking at Dana's curled body.

She got the message and decided to drag Nick outside to talk about their unending string of mishaps. "She may be unconscious Sally but make no mistake about her being attuned to her surroundings so lets avoid saying anything that may end up frying our guts from the inside out" Nick said to poke at his wife and it worked like magic, giving him the satisfaction of seeing his wife momentarily distracted. She pouted and soon realised its exactly the reaction her husband had hoped for and they both smiled with Nick pecking her lips.

"We have to start packing my dear husband" Sally said averting her eyes to look at the mess downstairs. Nick didn't do much to argue, he let out an exasperated sigh and said "maybe my mother saw something in her that we were too blind to see in our prolonged ecstasy"

"Maybe, maybe not. I still refuse to treat my baby like some possessed object that must be subjected to exorcism" Sally reasoned.

"My mother has a crude tongue sweetheart, you know this. You still remember how long it took her to accept you as my chosen wife?"

"Oh please Nick! Can you trully say your mother has accepted me? She still prefers that you take Mrs Turner's saint daughter instead of a girl you met abroad . . . how ridiculous" they both laughed softly at Sally's mimicked incredulity

"And I still chose you my darling wife, and I would choose you again and again if I have to, within a blink of an eye" and she knew it to be true.

"I know, and I love you for choosing me" she felt her heart constrict with a swell of emotions at her husband's blunt confession.

"Is that the only reason you love me?" he quirked one of his eyebrow in sync with the smirk that always follows . . . he wants a confession and she knew it.

"Oh My God Nick, aren't you the sly fox? You know I love you for a whole lot of reasons than that" she giggled and ran down the stairs, knowing her beloved will follow her. They both giggled falling inlove with their young selves at heart. They tidied the kitchen in murmurs and giggles and Sally made to race for the stairs again when Nick caught her by the waist and half lifted her up to throw her over his shoulder bridal style. She couldn't be more happier than she was right now. She couldn't imagine her life with anyone else for that matter. They reached their bedroom and she tickled her husband as payback knowing he will be forced to put her down. He swung her around so her legs hung tightly around his torso and they shared a passionate kiss before Sally escaped and made a run for the wardrobe.

"You really wanna do that now?" Nick asked seeing her throw the travel bag ontop of their bed. She blew him a kiss and started raking the clothes she deemed suitable for the Meadow weather.

"I don't, I would rather be a good wife and make love to my husband but then we will be late and that's always bad where senior Mrs Simons will be throwing daggers at poor me"

"My! I didn't realise she was more important than serving me . . . I mean, I went to a lot of trouble to make that soul mine and she just sweeps in and get all the credit? Life really ain't fair to us men" he half heartedly dragged his feet to go help his wife with the packing.

"Aren't you just an adorable husband" she pouted in a half blown kiss and he melted. He loved her pout. They picked the clothes they saw as comfortable for the sunny weather in the Meadow and the mild wind in rare occasions at sunset and when they were satisfied, they closed it and went to check on Dana. They found her tossing and turning without any sign of her being awake.

She is in an unfamiliar place, she can see that. Its seems like a wasteland of dubris with different fragments and shapes. She turned around in circles to try and gauge anything that can tell where she was but she found none. She slowly turned around in full circle one last time, hoping to get something she missed before and she raised her hand when a sudden blinding light caught her line of sight. She felt the compulsion to move towards it but the more she got closer, the more it seemed to move further and further away from her. She slanted her shoulders in exasperation 'a fucking mirage' she thought but as soon as she felt the agitation, a different overpowering sensation overcame her . . . a sensation more calmer, farmiliar from a memory not so distant. She opened her eyes and this time, her feet felt guided and her intention solemn and this time the mirage seemed to have stopped moving. She hunched her shoulders to pick the shiny, almost translucent object which seemed to simmer in a swirl of rainbow colors. She raised it to the light and it seemed to reflect on something further. She tried to step further and hit an invisible brick wall
