"Is it completed?" Lex asked looking up at his Ipod touch.
[It has been completed, as of right now Lionel Luthors control of Luthorcorp has been minimized to fit his position. Any and all secret projects have been shut down, you'll have to draw up plans on what to do with the victims of 33.1]
"Thank you B2," Standing up Lex walked towards his office window overlooking Metropolis. Just across he could see The Daily Planet, all things considered it was probably time to purchase it. Still he had more important things to worry about, the victims of 33.1 were a huge glaring problem that'd take more then sunglasses to fix. There was also Jace, although he was dead he had forced Lex to move up his plans. He was already aware that he wasn't safe how could he be in this world where gods walked amongst men. He'd have to find a way to fix his problem or give himself some other kind of protection. Groll hadn't reached any sustainable results as of yet which meant Lex would have to figure it out on his own. Luckily with the help of Oliver they had identified a doctor with the ability to create a sort of super solider serum. Unfortunately the effects were only temporary and they hadn't had time to see all of the side effects.
Her name, Doctor Pamela Black, she was shady that much Lex could tell upon setting his eyes on her. She was smart but like most smart people she was arrogant, her ambition got in her way which led to her losing her funding. Reckless enough to begin human testing so soon a year ago Lex would have praised her outlook on life. Now? Now he didn't have much of a choice but to use her, he was only hoping that within her formula he could find something to fix his own problem. Looking through his memory specifically Alex's memories he realized there was no mention of a captain america appearing in DC comics. That meant Pamela was a small speck on a much larger scope. She hadn't been able to make a splash considering he found no mention of her name. For that reason alone he wasn't that hopeful about her formula. Oliver had come into contact with her months before it was only now that she was able to produce her first batch of the formula. They'd head over to meet her later today, although Lex had a feeling Oliver had already done so.
Why wouldn't he, such a drug could be useful in his line of work. Not to mention that while he and Lex were soon to be business partners that didn't mean they were friends. No they simply had a much larger enemy they were forced to face. Lex was sure that Oliver would try and take as much power as he could and Lex? He'd do the same, only he and Oliver weren't playing with the same rules. Oliver was looking at the drug that Doctor Black created as a way to give him more control over his safety during his nightly patrol. Lex on the other hand understood that this drug was only temporary.
"Hows the progress with the Ipod touches?" Lex asked just loud enough for B2 to hear.
[Although they were a bit confused as to how you had created such a device, they've already begun to acquire the resources required to mass produce them. Although they pail in comparison to my own specs I believe the money you'll make from such a device will be in the billions.]
Lex nodded knowing that the iPod touches were only the beginning, here there was no Steve Jobs, or jeff bezos. There was an untapped market and thanks to Alex's memories Lex knew exactly how to exploit it.
"Smallville has plenty of space, let's start our own Silicon Valley," Lex smiled a bit at the prospects.
[I have no recollection of Silicon Valley within my database, you'll need to inform me of it's purpose if i'm to help you in doing so.]
"All in due time B2, for now let's focus on the present."
…
Success was nothing new to Lex, he held a blue new york Times magazine in his left hand. On the cover was a model holding an Ipod touch in hand, it was a revolutionary device. One able to make phonecalls, play music, all while being touch screen. He was sure that people would attempt to copy and replicate the device, it was why he had already made a rival company. One by the name of Shogun, it would effectively serve as Samsung, a rival to his company known as AppleCorp. He'd sent the new devices to everyone he knew, Oliver who was interested in partnering with LutherCorp was a bit annoyed he wasn't in on the revenue for the device. Lana was obviously happy if not a bit annoyed that B2 didn't exist within her device. He'd even gone as far to send one to people he wasn't close with such as his father, chloe, Martha Kent, and even Clark. Whether they used them or not was completely up to them, the device would make him billions with or without them.
B2 had been a bit of a problem, especially with Lana constantly asking questions about him. Lex had opted to tell her a bit of a white lie, in her eyes B2 was just a program, one that could respond and perform actions that Lex authorized. She seemed content with such an answer, though he could feel her reservations as her pregancy furthered along. Ever since the accident at luthorcorp she'd been doing her best to appear happy. Deep down he felt like there was something she had wanted to say before he had gotten shot. Unfortunately Lana Lang was the least of his problems as of right now. There was Pamela Black, her patients had begun to show signs of aggression. Her formula was barely working and yet the side effects were already apparent. He was already thinking of cutting ties yet Oliver was persistent in his views of the drug. For now Lex would watch but he was beginning to lose faith in the doctor. Then there was his father, the old man was consistent he had to give him that. He'd found several secret dealings, projects, all started by his old man without his knowledge. He was beginning to think it was time to cut ties with him.
"B2 hows the purchase of the property going?" Lex looked over at him Ipod, it wasn't that he completely trusted B2. He was still isolated and being monitored constantly, yet he had put in safeguards to protect against any malicious activity.
"Due to being on the market for years the price of the property had dropped substantially, we've managed now only to purchase the house but the 15 or so acres behind it as well."
Lex nodded letting out a sigh of relief. "Send a message to Lana, i'll be by Chloe's to grab her within the hour." The mansion was growing stuffy, he'd been working from home since the accident. One would think that it'd make things easier, but being unable to monitor his father in person was offputting.
…
"Where are we going?" Lana asked ever so curious. Her hair was in a ponytail, she was beginning to gain weight from the pregnancy, yet her skin glowed from the process.
"It's a surprise," Lex said a smile on his face. Smallville was a relatively small town, it wasn't long before they were on the highway headed down familiar roads. The mansion was just a few miles to the right but to the left was the familiar Kent Farm. Only that wasn't where they were headed, pulling into the Kent road Lana's smile faded as she looked towards the Kent house.
"What's going on Lex?" Lana asked.
"We're not here to see Clark Lana," Lex said making a quick turn to the left pulling into a stop just in front of Nell's old house. In the front yard a sign with the words sold on the front of it greeted them.
"You bought it," Lana asked her eyes wide.
"The mansion is so big that it sometimes feels empty, I figured we could spend a few nights here a month. Not to mention i'm sure you'd want to teach our kids to ride horses, what better a place than where you grew up." Lex finished watching as tears began to appear in Lana's eyes.
"Sometimes i think you're so caught in your work that you don't even know I exist, and then you turn around and do something like this."
Lex couldn't help but frown hearing that, it wasn't something that she would understand, ironically the only person he believed would understand was the person that hated him most in this world. Clark was the only person that would understand the weight of the world upon his shoulders.
"No matter what happens Lana, know that I do love you, it may not appear to always be the case but you've won my heart," Lex commented grabbing her hand and squeezing it.
"I know, and I love you too lex," reaching over she placed a kiss upon his lips, Lex smiled as she did and Lana raised an eyebrow looking into his eyes. "What else did you plan?"
"You know me pretty well," Lex commented stepping out of the car, jogging around to the other side he opened her door helping her out. Grabbing her hand he led her around the house towards the horse stables, it was usually empty due to no one living in the house but now things had changed. Turning on the lights the sounds of horses neighing brought the place to life as a smile appeared on Lana's face.
"I figured you would want to groom and take care of them yourself, but when you're busy with work, we'll need someone to look after them. I'll give you his number later," Lex finished as he watched her walk up to each horse learning their names.
"I don't know what to say Lex," Lana commented as she stood in the center of the stables.
"We met for the second time right here," Lex said a smile on his face. "You chastised me for how i treated you when we first met as kids."
"You were a jerk," Lana said a smile still on her face.
"I deserved it, it's thanks to your belief in me that i've been able to change over this past year. I believe i'm a better person than I was before-"
"Lex," Lana wanted to speak but Lex cut her off.
"Lana, I don't often believe in much because this world has not been kind to me. KNowing what we know about what's out there I need someone to stand by my side against it all, I want that person to be you." Dropping to one knee Lex smiled pulling out the ring as Lana froze, "Lana Lang will you marry me?"
It seemed like eternity for Lex he watched in anticipation as Lana inched closer to him, "Yes," Her voice was a whisper but Lex heard it. Placing the ring on her finger he pulled her into a kiss spinning her around he looked towards the exit as he broke the kiss just in time to see a shadow leaving. Smirking he couldn't tell if he was happier that she said yes or happier that Clark was there to hear and see it all.
