Lex frowned as removed the last of the rubble, Lana, his fiance, laid out in the middle of the floor. He moved quick, he had been forced to use the fireextinguisher to get rid of the flames. But his strengthe made removing the debris easy, stepping into the house he grabbed Lana quickly taking her outside before returning for the other two. Tobias was still breathing, though unconscious, seeing the blood Lex turned towards Dr.Bethany who he could tell was no longer breathing. If he hadn't had someone following the bastard what would have happened? He was lucky he was already dead , with what lex would have done to him his ending wouldn't have been so quick. Grabbing Tobias he moved him twoards the exit laying him next to Lana before quickly pulling Dr.Bethany's body from the house. He needed a scapegoat in case any of Dr.Bethanys less than moral activities came back to bite Lex in the ass.
"How long until the medevac arrives?" Lex asked as he moved closer to Lana checking her breathing. She seemed fine but there was a chance smoke had gotten into her lungs, and then there was Tobias.
[Any second now] B2 Replied through the ipod touch. Lex nodded taking a deep breath as he heard the sound of the helicopter arriving. He watched as both Lana and Tobias were loaded onto the helicopter, as they were giving oxygen mask. As the helicopter took off and the police arrived, his lawyer wasn't too far after. He explained, pointing out that the two witnesses were currently in a hospital in Central City. that the police could investigate Dr.Bethany's recent actions while they waited on Lana and Tobias to awaken. It was early morning when he finally touched down in Central City himself, walking through the hospital he spotted a man wearing a doctor's coat standing outside of what he was sure was Lana's room.
"Dr.Allen," Lex called out gaining the man's attention.
"Mr.Luthor," Henry reached out to shake Lex's hand.
"How is she?" Lex asked as he shook hsi hand.
"As expected she's suffering from all the usual symptoms, shortness of breath, eye irritation, it's the baby we were most worried about." Henry looked down at hsi clipboard as if it was a puzzle.
"Past tense?" Lex asked confused. "Is there a reason you were standing here looking at my fiance besides the fact that you were waiting on my arrival? Is something wrong with our child?"
"The baby's fine, in fact the baby is more than fine, we expect some kind of after effects when a mother passes out due to smoke in her lungs. The baby should have experienced similar if not worse symptoms, yet there are no signs of discomfort. It's as if the smoke from teh fire was regular air, either your fiance got extremely lucky or something else is going on here." His eyes narrowed as he looked at Lex. "You wouldn't know anything about this would you?"
Lex took a second to think, unsure fo what exactly was causing this. There was his DNA being changed by the kryptonian x-ray machine, but he wasn't sure if that would have ay effect on teh baby. The only other thing that came to mind was the meteor shower, how it had effected him as a boy.
"I haven't been sick since I was a kid doctor," Lex said watching as Dr.Henry's eyes showed confusion. "The meteor shower, i was smack in the center of it as a kid in smallville, after it I never got sick."
"That's not enough to explain this," Dr.Henry said looking down at his clipboard again.
"I survived stranded on a island with Malaria for months, when my father was going to trial to rid himself of witnisses he attempted to poison me. What should have killed an average man, knocked me unconscious. Shall I continue," Lex asked.
"If what you're saying is true, the fetus has inherited your, invulnerability. Your fiance on the other hand will need her rest, as far as I can tell she's as vulnerable as the rest of us."
"I'll make sure she does," Lex said turning back towards the window looking in at Lana who was still unconscious. "How is Tobias?"
"Suprisingly resilient, his surgery sent well, he'll make a full recovery."
How else was Lex going to continue identifying those affected by the meteors? It was good that he was going to make a full recovery.

Lex peaked into Tobias' room surprised to find the tv on, tobias flicked through the channels obviously bored none of the sounds fitting his pallet?
"Tobias, how do you feel," lex asked as he entered the room.
"Like I just got shot," Tobias said smiling.
"I'm sorry I couldn't get there sooner, I had someone watching Dr.Bethany but he wasn't equipped to deal with gunfire." He hadn't expected Lana to be at Tobias', though he had a bit fo an idea as to why she was there.
"I'm just glad you pulled us out of there, though I'lll miss that house," Tobias seemed reluctant to leave his family home in ashes.
"With your salary, having it rebuilt won't be too difficult, all hope isn't lost yet Tobias." Lex said watching as realization dawned on Tobias' face.
"Even after all of this you'll still hire me?" Tobias asked confused.
"I don't know the full details but Dr.Bethany's crimes are his and his alone," Tobias had played no part in what came after Dr.Bethany identified the mutants. Lex himself was yet to discover what Dr.Bethany did after identifying the mutants but he wouldn't allow any of the blowback to affect Tobias, he was too important.
"Thank you," Tobias said tears almost forming in his eyes, wiping his eyes he looked up at Lex clearly wishing to say something. "I don't know If I should tell you this, it's about Lana."
"I talked with Lana about you but I don't quite understand why she was at your house," Lex said patiently.
"She was asking about Clark, she seemed to think that he was affected by the meteor shower."
It made sense, in the grand scheme of things. Most people with powers in smallville had been affected by the meteors in some way shape or form, of course Lana would think the meteor shower affected Clark. There was the obvious fact that Clark wasn't born in Smallville, even his adoption papers showed that. There was also the fact that his heroics had begun long before the second meteor shower. But it was still more plausible than Clark being some kind of alien from another planet.
"She's mistaken," Lex said surprising Tobias. "Clark wasn't affected by the meteor shower, but you already know that don't you?"
"He looked as normal as anyone else, his friend though, chloe, she looked different." Tobias said shaking his head.
"Different than Clark? Or different than me?" Lex asked surprising Tobias again.
"Most people affected by the meteor shower glow green in my eyes, it's almost blinding. You on the other hand, it's like all of the glow is right here," Tobias placed his fist of his chest. "Chloe though, she seems almost like normal but not, and it's not green, it's almost teal."
"Have you seen anyone else, like chloe? Teal I mean?"
"When I look at Lana, her belly, i can see a faint teal glow, but it's even more faint than Chloe's." Tobias finished focing Lex to nod. It seemed that Dr.Henry wasn't too far off the mark, he'd have to do some more research and consult with B2 about all of this. There weren't many instances of children born from parents that were affected by hte meteor shower. There wasn't enough data for him to be able to tell if this was a good thing or a bad thing. He was sure that how own invulnerabilty had protected his child today, that was comforting enough.
"Let's keep this between you and I for now Tobias, you've done well, get some rest, you deserve it." Lex stood exiting the room, there was a lot that needed to be thought about. Things were changing fast, faster than he thought possible. Lana becoming pregnant had changed everything, his thirst for power had got waned. No, it only grew as he thought about how dangerous this world was. Initially he was worried about his own safety now he had a fiance, and a child to worry about. Lana somehow always seemed to find herself in hairy situations, Clark hadn't been there to save her this time. Even though she seemed to be counting on it, things were progressing just as B2 had calculated. Lana was set down a path and nothing could stop her from solving the puzzle that was Clark Kent.
Looking into her room, he spotted her sleeping so peacefully, as if she hadn't just been saved from a burning building. He understood her drive, Clark's secret had once alluded him as well. How things would be different if the man had the balls to tell his friends he was an alien. He had already given Lana an out, did he love her? Yes, but he would not be her jailer, he would not force her to stay with him. His former self who was so intent on being Clark's enemy might have, but this Lex was different. Lana could leave, she could be with Clark if she wanted, but his child would remain with him. She didn't understand how danger it was to be around Clark, how every bad thing that would happen on earth was somehow related to Clark Kent. It was time he had someone keep a close eye on Lana, she'd no doubt hate him for it. Unless he delivered the news right to her face, suddenly Lex couldn't help but smile as he looked down at his ipod touch.
"Send for Tess Mercer," Lex said to B2, "its time Lana met another member of the family."
