A text message was just sent, and a call came in.
At night, Tang Li set her cellphone to silent mode.
So, when the screen showed an incoming call, there was no sound.
Holding the cellphone, she lifted the thin quilt, got out of bed in the dark, and shuffled to the bathroom.
In the bathroom, she quietly closed the sliding door and turned on the light, afraid that standing too close to the door might cause noise to leak. She stepped to the toilet before pressing the green button on her cellphone.
The call connected, but Song Baiyan didn't speak immediately.
After a short while, Song Baiyan's warm voice came through the receiver: "Went outside to take the call?"
In just a few seconds, Song Baiyan had already figured out her situation.
Tang Li glanced at the toilet and vaguely replied, "Sort of."
