Chapter 13 - CHAPTER 13 – The First Seeds of Power

Nathan stood tall, the moon casting silver along his white robe.

"From tonight onward," he said softly, "this is our home."

A breeze moved across the plateau, gentle and welcoming, as if the mountain itself approved.

The sect was born.

Quietly.

Safely.

Hidden.

Perfect.

And with it, a new era began.

----

Morning unfolded gently over the Supreme Void Sect.

Mist drifted across the plateau like slow-moving silk, the soft rush of the waterfall echoing through the trees. Sunlight spilled over the courtyard, warming the fresh stone paths and wooden structures born only the night before.

Nathan stepped out of his residence, breathing in the mountain's crisp air.

Before he could take another step, a familiar sound echoed in his mind—cold, mechanical, and unmistakable.

*DING*

[Host Authority Level: 2]

Nathan blinked once.

Good. This will make things easier.

He walked toward the courtyard where Ash, Cyril, and Lia stood waiting.

Ash was attempting to look disciplined, but a twig stuck out of his hair like a miniature antenna.

Nathan stared at him for a moment.

"Ash… did you fight a tree?"

Ash panicked and ripped the twig out.

"No, Master! I—uh—I was practicing stealth! Yes, stealth!"

Cyril gave him a disappointed side-glance.

Lia quietly tried not to laugh.

Nathan moved to the front of the courtyard, hands behind his back.

"Good. Since you're all here, today marks the beginning of your cultivation journey."

Cyril bowed.

"We are ready, Master."

Lia bowed as well.

"I will do my best."

Ash saluted with too much enthusiasm.

"I'm prepared!"

Nathan gestured toward the meditation pavilion near the waterfall.

Inside, the sun filtered through wooden beams, and the air carried the scent of flowing water. The three disciples sat before him, each cross-legged and attentive.

Nathan's expression grew calm.

"Before you cultivate, I must know your purpose. Cultivation without a goal is a wasted path. Who you become depends on why you walk forward."

He turned to Ash first.

"Ash. Your goal."

Ash puffed out his chest.

"To never go hungry again!"

Nathan paused.

"…Practical."

"And to protect the sect!" Ash added hastily.

Nathan nodded once.

"Lia."

Lia inhaled softly.

"I want a chance… a real one. I want to grow, to prove my worth, and to surpass the limits others placed on me."

Nathan gave her a warm look.

"A worthy pursuit."

"Cyril."

Cyril's voice was cool and steady.

"I want strength. Enough strength that no one will ever control me again."

Nathan held his gaze.

Honesty, pain, and determination lived behind those words.

Before Nathan could continue, another system message flowed into his mind.

*DING*

[First-generation disciples registered.]

[Generating INITIAL FOUNDATION MANUALS for new disciples.]

[Warning: Host's personal manual 'Void Asura Sutra' is too advanced and cannot be shared.]

[Three foundation-level manuals created for beginner cultivation.]

Three small lights appeared in Nathan's palm—visible only to him.

They solidified into scrolls.

Nathan lowered his hand.

"These are your foundation manuals. They will guide your early cultivation until you are strong enough to receive your true techniques."

Ash's jaw dropped.

"Master, you… summoned scrolls from thin air!"

Nathan coughed lightly.

"The result of experience."

Cyril narrowed his eyes, silently studying the motion.

Lia traced her scroll with gentle fingers.

"It feels… right," she whispered.

Nathan nodded.

"Sit. Close your eyes."

All three obeyed immediately.

Nathan's voice became calm and steady.

"Cultivation is not the act of taking power.

It is awakening the spark already within you."

Wind brushed against their faces.

The waterfall's rhythm deepened.

"Breathe. Follow your breath inward.

There—within your chest—is warmth.

Let it rise. Slowly. Naturally."

Ash squeezed his eyes too hard.

"My warmth says it wants breakfast."

Nathan resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose.

"Ash… ignore that warmth."

Lia's breathing steadied.

"I feel a flame… small, but there."

Cyril's energy sharpened.

"A spark. Stable."

Minutes passed in quiet concentration.

Until—

Another message appeared silently in Nathan's mind:

*DING*

[Disciples' Cultivation Status Updated:

— Ash: Qi Sense awakened (unstable)

— Lia: Balanced and steady Qi flow

— Cyril: High control detected; progress above average]

[System Suggestion: Assign individualized training missions within 24 hours.]

Nathan nodded slightly.

They really are progressing.

Just as he prepared to end the session—

The bushes rustled.

Soft.

Quick.

Uncertain.

Nathan's eyes opened.

The system spoke again:

*DING*

[Warning: Unknown lifeform approaching the sect boundary.]

[Classification: Spirit Beast (Young)]

[Condition: Injured]

[Threat Level: None]

Nathan rose silently.

Lia opened her eyes a heartbeat later.

"Master… was that…?"

"Yes."

Cyril's hand drifted to his wooden sword.

"Shall I eliminate it?"

"No," Nathan said calmly. "I will see."

Ash hid behind Cyril.

"If it's big, I'm running."

Nathan walked toward the tree line.

The invisible concealment barrier hummed quietly as he approached the boundary.

A pair of bushes trembled.

Nathan knelt and spoke softly.

"Come out."

Two silver eyes peeked back at him—frightened, shimmering with faint spirit energy.

Nathan softened his voice.

"You're safe."

Slowly, the small creature stepped into the sunlight.

Its fur glowed faintly.

Its paw was bleeding.

It trembled from injury and exhaustion.

Lia gasped.

"It's hurt…"

Ash whispered, half in awe, half in fear:

"It's… adorable."

Cyril narrowed his eyes.

"That aura… this is not an ordinary beast."

Then the system chimed again:

*DING*

[Rare Event Triggered:

Young Spirit Beast has entered the sect.]

[Potential Bond Detected.]

[Host Decision Required:

Do you choose to approach and assist the beast?]

Nathan extended his hand slowly.

"So… you came to us."

The creature hesitated—

Then stepped closer.

Nathan smiled faintly.

The Supreme Void Sect had existed for less than a day…

and already, fate was knocking on the door.
