Chapter 18 - Chapter 17 Claude's Smile.

This despicable man deliberately teased me all he wanted. What did he want from me anyway? He always avoided me before, but now, he acts like I am his wife while I am not. Who is your wife? Me? In your sweetest dream. I won't believe his lies anymore. I used to be stupid, blindly following him anywhere, smiling brightly at every one of his appearances.

Now, I am not that stupid anymore, and no one can change without any reason. Changing your nature is not even possible in every way, and even though someone can change their nature, it won't be that easy. Changing your hobby is easy, but changing your attitude or behavior towards the girl you hate is impossible. Hate fills Claude's heart for me, so how come he is different now?

I don't want to think about such an insignificant thing anymore, and I will focus on eating delicious food. Mom and Dad looked at us with wide grins on their faces. I didn't know why they seemed so happy in the morning.

"Did you sleep well last night?" Mom broke the silence first.

"Yes, it was a good night, and I had a good dream last night. And do you know the dream I had last night, Mom?" I nodded my head vigorously.

Mom laughed a little and asked me, "What is it, Mio?"

I like to tell Mom and Dad everything that happens in my life, even as simple as telling them my dreams—except telling them about Claude's attitude towards me, which is always as cold as ever. Claude always looked at me with disgusting eyes, like I was just mere trash to him.

"I dreamed that I would get married to Claude's big brother, and we had the wedding I always longed for in my whole life. Then we went on a honeymoon to the L islands—the place Claude's big brother once refused to take me to. Hahaha, of course, it is only a dream, and Claude's big brother didn't like me stepping on his private island after all," I said with a laugh, but no one laughed at my joke. What is wrong with everyone today? They looked at me with strange expressions, and then they suddenly laughed without me knowing the reason why.

Claude smiled brightly, and I could even see his invisible tail wagging happily. What is wrong with this despicable man? Mom and Dad gazed at me with gentle and affectionate eyes, and Claude also did the same. Wait a minute, Claude was looking at me with tender and loving eyes?

He looked at me that way.

Impossible.

He is a cold man. Of course, it is impossible that he gazes at me with loving eyes. I've known Claude since I was four years old. Never once did he look at me with loving eyes. Yeah, his cold gaze emerged in my mind. Every second in my life, Claude always faced me with his cold aura and disgusting eyes. Maybe he always thought that I brought misery into his life because an insignificant girl like me stole all the things that were his.

His cold sentence emerged in my mind every time I faced his cold eyes:

'Big brother, play with me.'

'I am not your big brother. The sight of you makes my stomach sick. You are disgusting.'

He always pushed me aside without minding where we were—even in front of his friends. Claude shoved me hard, and one day, I almost became an accident victim. I almost lost my life. Claude never felt anything even after he saw me almost die with his own eyes. Claude only snorted in disgust and walked away without helping me.

So, if someday Claude changed and looked at me with loving eyes, it meant he planned something in his mind. I don't know what he is after, but it is not my business. Sooner or later, it will show its sharp fangs and bite me until nothing remains. Claude is a cunning man who will do everything for his benefit.

He hides his real motive behind a gentle mask on his face to get what he wants. Maybe Mom and Dad blackmailed him for inheriting the family business. If he didn't marry me, then he would be removed as the next successor. Mom and Dad used to say these sentences in front of me, but Claude refused to give up. He decided to build his own company and made it more successful than his parents' company.

Claude was even angrier when he found out that his parents transferred some of the company's shares in my name. It was only a 15% share, and it was not enough for me to become the next successor, but Claude was furious at that time. Mom and Dad even took back the 45% shares in Claude's name. Claude was in a bad temper, and his eyes became more disgusting when he looked at me.

He said that I was the culprit who made them take back the shares in his hands. He doubted me to be the one who asked them to revoke his stock so that I could get married to him. But Claude never knew that it was not my decision, nor did I complain to them about marrying him as he thought. Mom and Dad did it because they were sad to see me suffer because of their son. They already saw me as their real daughter, and which parents have the heart to let their daughter suffer in sadness?

But Claude always thought that it was my fault. After he succeeded in building his own company, his parents couldn't do anything to force him anymore. Claude already proved that without becoming a successor, he could make his own company more successful than his parents' business. Claude disconnected the chain that trapped him, and even his parents couldn't control him anymore. Then they gave up on forcing him to marry me.

His last words to me emerged in my mind like a broken record.

"Now, what will you do, Mio? You don't have a joker card that can make you win this game, because I am the winner. With this, you can't complain to my parents anymore. Yeah, a disgusting girl who wanted to sleep on my bed is more appropriate in the red-light district. If you love me that much like a crazy woman, then I won't mind buying your body. What price do you want? I can give it to you," Claude said with an evil smile and disgusting eyes on his face, while talking to me like I was only a night butterfly girl.

(*Ps. Night Butterfly is a polite designation for a person who works in the red-light district.)

I cried, and my tears flowed down my cheeks at that time.

"Huh, you can only cry, cry, and cry like a baby. Do you think I will feel sorry for you? Of course not. I like you crying more because of me, and then I will be happier because you stole the thing that should be mine," Claude said.

Small Theater:

Claude: Mio is cute today too. (Talking to himself in his heart, smiling brightly.)

Mio: Why is he smiling like a fool in front of me? (Glares with disgust.)

Claude: Ah, her disgusting eyes are so cute too.

Mio: "..."
