Chapter 34 - Chapter 34 Lord of Monsters?

---??? pov---

Blood was all that he could see and remember.

Voices, so many voices called out to him telling him to protect this town, I must protect my town.

Yes I must protect it from humans!

Wait? Human, human?

No, I am not, I am a demon, yes I was a spy for Belial, or was I?

Can't seem to remember anything other than me wanting to make the perfect sword.

The voices are talking again.

Intruders?

KILL THE INTRUDERS!

------------

A slow-moving undead wielding a large hammer made its way to Walter and his group, Jekyll, the blood hawks, all stood ready, while Trisha began firing her arrows that whistled through the air making easy work of the weaker monsters, Walter joined her with his bow aiming for the approaching undead aiming straight for the head!

While it worked to slow it down, the number of monsters was starting to get too close thanks to their numbers!

He yelled out to Trisha.

"I'm going to summon my other monsters i'll answer your questions later!"

Trisha was too busy at the moment and welcomed more help, however, the new monsters he summoned almost made her drop her bow but her jaw was certainly dropped right now for one reason.

the monsters he summoned this time.

they were rogues!

The ghastly figures that moved like the veteran sisters that were titled as valkyries back before the monastery was overrun, one was using a great bow, while the other held a longsword with runes glowing along the blade in one hand with a whip that was soaked in holy water, both wore full-body plate armors that hide their features.

What confused the rogue though, was the strange elegance they had with every attack making her remember an old story that Kashya would tell them it was about a pair of sisters that guarded the lower levels of the Monastery.

*PAH*

That was the sound one could hear with every flick of the whip, the loud whistling of arrows intermixed with it as each arrow packed enough power to leave a hole in the weaker monsters!

Walter who wasn't very good with the bow had already put it away and opted to use his knife with projectiles that either distracted or hindering his enemy before dealing a killing blow.

Jekyll was having too much fun with its new toy that its summoner had given it, a big ass mace that worked well to cause some head to cave-in or explode with it being in its element a blood massacre was happening.

The two blood hawks made use of their blood draining ability more than doubled the effects and range thanks to their combined efforts.

But anything else that they did had little effect on the approaching undead by using the other monsters as meatshields it was getting close, once it reached 30 meters away from them, Walter ordered Jekyll to attack this guy instead while they took care of the small fry.

As for why he did that, Walter wanted to see if Jekyll could challenge it since it had the upper hand with speed and weapons compared to this slow monster that was using a rusty hammer that looked like it'll break with one good tap on it.

despite his anticipation, nothing like that happened, nor did the hammer it was holding break upon hitting the ground as Jekyll dodged its strike, in fact, this monster was rather weak...

But something about it made him feel uneasy, sure enough, as the clattering undead was having too much fun it made a mistake while trying to dodge making it slip then fall to the ground once the large bloody undead landed a strike on Jekyll, a wide area curse landed on all of them.

It was 'amplify damage'!

The amount it added was 20% giving the enemy monsters the advantage since they weren't affected by this!

The even worse part about it was the fact that one of the smarter monsters ordered the weaker ones to help their ally to increase their advantage.

So Walter yelled out to Trisha.

"HELP JEKYLL OUT, WE CANNOT LET THEM INCREASE THE CURSE THAT WAS PUT ON US!"

He was pointing to his summon upon saying that before putting away his weapons and started using his quill shot ability in this case the altered version that was like a shotgun!

The number of monsters dwindled quite a bit, however, more weaker monsters were ordered to help the bloodied undead causing the amplified damage to increase by 40%, the damage it brought was obvious as their attacks increased in potency by more than half.

even a simple scratch was like a blade digging in a few inches into your flesh making Walter fear curses even more!

About an hour later, the place where they arrived through from the portal looked like someone waged war and just let the bodies pile up high enough to raise those that walk on it a few feet

Thanks to Trisha the fight jekyll was having finally ended although it was on the ground with one arm fully crushed, missing a jaw, and ruined pelvis.

As for his opponent, 44 broken arrows were stuck in its body, 8 of which were in the head and that was only counting the ones that managed to stay in his undead body, with ripped flesh, and bones on its face and torso were sticking out from the damage done by the mace, despite that.

the damned thing was still alive!

As it muttered like a voice player that was on a loop.

"KILL THE INTRUDERS"

at least that's how it sounded like, so to finally rid Walter's group of the curse, Yang, with a battered armor stood over the still struggling monster before twisting her whip with two hands letting a drop of holy water land on the monster's head before it finally stopped moving.

Yin was tired and in the same condition as Yang, but she was still firing her arrows at the now dwindled number of monsters that tried getting close adding more bodies to the large piles around them, Harley and Quinn still looked as peppy as ever since they recovered any and all damage they received while Harley was now laying on its favorite spot with Quinn was green with envy on his lap, the number of bodies that littered the ground was enough to make an acre of land on water.

Walter was leaning back against a withered tree as Trisha was leaning against him without a care in the world, they both just wanted to sleep right now but once the man caught his breath, he downed a few different potions and gave his tired follower some as well.

He needed to find Deckard Cain as soon as possible since there was one question Walter wanted to ask him yet feared for the worse should he finally get the answer.

He then provided potions to his summons wanting to see if it'll work, fortunately enough for him, it did~

Well, except for Jekyll, the undead had to rely on its own recovery ability so the clattering zombie had to be unsummoned.

Since the two blood hawks were so energetic, he ordered them to scout and look for any humans that could still be alive while he was afraid the person he was looking for might've perished it was better to be sure than leave without knowing.

The report he vaguely understood was there was a shaman with ten carvers guarding a cage to which that they already killed, the person in the cage was a starving and beaten old man.

There was a survivor, thus he had his team rush over to rescue the man and find out where Deckard Cain was currently.

Since there was nothing to use to help Walter know who exactly he was looking for, the man didn't bother to think that the very person he was trying to find and bring to the encampment was the old man himself.

Remember he never even played the game nor does he know the story so in his mind he assumed it'd be someone like Warriv or Akara.

Upon arriving, the old man was already calling for help.

Then when he saw the two ghastly figures that resembled rogues, and the two blood hawks that helped lower his cage there was a glint in his eyes that made it obvious he knew something about them, as Cain even forgot where he was at as well as what his body had just gone through.

The old man's hand shook while trying to point at him, he said three words with a peculiar look on his face before collapsing.

"Lord of Monsters!"
