Chapter 21 - Where there's a Heaven... there's a Hell

The sound echoed off the walls. It echoed in my mind. Another whip ran across her face and I felt it. I quivered, but tried to get myself together. I had to save her.

"Bella!" I screeched. The sound bounced off the walls like the whip.

In reply, I heard the last bit of what she had in her, "Da-Daniel."

I could feel her smiling with my name leaving her bloody lips. As if I was some sort of hope. A light that shines in her chest that told her anything was possible. She was gripping onto consciousness as I found the cell. Hanging from chains, her dress was ripped, torn like her dignity. Her skin swelled from the hits of the merciless whip.

"I told you to tell me how to end the curse! Witch! You should be cursed for the sins you've committed!" The man whipping her screamed. Just as his hand lifted and placed a shadow on Bella's face, I bit his ankle. "Gah, what are you doing here? You're supposed to be resting," the man looked at me with disgust. "Why do you defend the foul woman who cursed you?"

"Because she's mine!" I let out in a roar of sorts. Whatever a small cat could do. I stood infron of her, trying to protect her. The man stepped back a moment. I took a chance and went up to Bella. I looked into her weak eyes. He had hit her so much, she almost felt numb. I started to lick her wounds as if to clean her up. She lightly smiled.

"Thank you for trying, but I deserve this," she felt a knot in her throat as tears filled her eyes. She truely blamed herself for everything. She hated herself for putting me through this. She thought I was suffering more than I was. What she doesn't know, is that the only suffering I'm going through is that I can't help her. I can't hold her. It seems almost impossible. We want to help each other, but my family, the one's I grew up knowing, loving, and caring for, end up pushing her away because of her talents. Because of her family, her status, her name, her magic, they push her away. She deserves none of it a d yet she still allows herself to be punished. She doesn't even try to fight back. She wants them to beat her for her sins. She wants to be punished. I can feel all of it. I understand now. I have to help her, no matter the consequences to myself. I started to try and reach her chains.

"Sir, what are you doing? She's a prisoner."

"If she's a prisoner, let it be of my love," I replied. The man may have not fully understood me, but he knows I want her free. He grabs his key and opened her chains. Her arms fell to the ground along with her upper body. Her hair covered her face. Her wrists had bruises on them. Every bone in her body ached with cuts, bruises, and scars. She had blood all over her torn clothes. I bit her sleeve and gently tugged it outward to let the man know I wanted her to come with me, but I couldn't carry her. The man groaned and picked her up. He followed me to my room. Occasionally he would pinch her to cause her pain, so I would turn around and his at him.

Once we finally arrived, I hopped onto the bed and motioned to lay her down. He layed her on the bed and put the covers on her. After he left, I layed next to her. I watched her as she tried to sleep.
