Chapter 16 - Arthur

Max POV

All night I laid in bed thinking of that poor man's face. More of his head rolling off the stage plopping down on the ground as blood poured out showering the guest and his headless body tumbling to the ground on its side as blood oozed out like a river. It made me want to puke the more I thought about it. "All this because of some flowers," I say in confusion under my breath looking up at the ceiling as the sun begins to rise.

Since I couldn't sleep, I rolled out of bed stepping into some slippers to enter the bathroom in my room. Since I had one in my actual home it just appeared but the only thing that works is the toilet other than that I have to add water to the other things like the tub and sink.

I look into the mirror and sigh looking at the bags under my eyes before heading downstairs where Gordon sat at a table eating oatmeal or whatever they called the brown slop in a bowl.

"I see you had no problem waking up today," he says, and I say nothing sitting across from him looking at the goo in a bowl that sat in front of me. There was no way I was going to eat that ferocious liquid in the bowl but not to be rude I stared at it intensely twirling my wooden spoon within it. "And I see you changed your clothes again. I have never seen so many clothes before." I looked down at my clothes and nodded. I no longer had on my bed clothes and slippers but wore a black tank top with an equally dark jacket I wore over it. A silver chain dangled from my neck, and I wore loose black cross earrings and one black stud for the top of my ear along with rings on every finger. Black joggers are always my go to and some combat boots to finish the outfit as I didn't want to stand out. But I realized that I would stand out anyway.

"Don't forget you have to wake the prince," he says, and I nod pushing myself up and away from the table leaving every bit of food on my plate before leaving the room. I headed out to the prince's room realizing that I didn't even know the prince's name or where he was located as I didn't ask for directions like I knew my way around the castle.

I walk around for a while before spotting a man wearing armor and he spots me also walking up to me. "Where are you going, you look lost," he says in a charming, clear voice. I was almost too stunned to speak. "I'm looking for the prince's room, I'm the new servant," he nods as I speak before telling me to follow him walking to the prince's room before leaving.

I opened the door to his room, and it was so silent. The room was spacious though he had a bed way bigger than a king and a complete dining table. I walk over to the window and open the curtains letting light brighten the darkness of his room. I could barely spot him in the bed as the bed was so big and he was in the middle with his head under the covers as if he was used to someone opening the curtains.

"Prince," I say softly, walking up to the bed and getting met with silence. "Prince it's time to wake up, don't you have something to do," I say, scratching my head. "This is so annoying," I whine as he doesn't move a muscle. No matter how much I talked in my sweetest firm voice he ignored me to the point where my eyes began to twitch. "Prince," I called out once again now sitting at his dining table leaning back in the seat and the silence was killing me.

"You know what if you want to sleep the day away then do it because at this point you're getting on my last nerve and i barely have any left," I yell leaning forward as the chair thumps the floor and I stand to leave, immediately I see his head pop up.

"What did you say," he yawns and without thought I repeat myself loud and clear in annoyance.

"I've been here for an hour calling your name and all you did was flip and turn your big ass around as if you couldn't hear me. I'm quitting, I can't do this today," I yell, and he laughs as if I said something funny. He was finally getting out of bed and pushed the covers off his body revealing his bare chest and some weird looking pants that flowed past his ankles. He definitely had the body and face of a prince. It was kind of mesmerizing, but his ego pissed me off.

"You really think you can quit," he chuckled, "I'm the prince and what I want I get."

"Okay," I roll my eyes standing by the door with my hand on the knob. "What does that have to do with me," I asked, not expecting an answer, I just wanted to leave.

"I want a servant and Gordon recommended you himself so do you get what I am saying-"

"No," I open the door and slam it shut once I exit the room. I could feel the vein in my head pulsing as I stormed off back to Gordon's place and lucky for me, he wasn't home questioning me every second of the day. I was able to go into my room and lay down on the bed with no problem. I needed a nap after that rude prick got on every nerve in my body. As soon as I got under the covers the door to my room slams open and I jump up and my eyes open.

"Did you really storm out on me," the prince stood in my doorway, and I shrugged to answer his question, grabbing hold of my cover to lay down on my soft pillows. "Get up," he yells, and I shake my head. "Get up now," he pulls the covers off of me, throwing them to the floor and I fluff the pillow from under my head and shut my eyes tighter.

"I have never had a servant act so childish before," I sat up to face him as those words flew out of his lips.

"Well, I never had to work under such a self-centered bastard," I finally stood up as his eyes widened. "And for your information I'm not childish I'm just not putting up with your bullshit," I meant every word, but I didn't mean to say it to him. He was the prince and could end my life with a snap of his fingers but instead he scoffs at me.

"You don't even know me servant-"

"It's Max," I interrupted him. "Don't call me servant as if I have no name your highness," I grit my teeth as he chuckles. "Of course, I didn't know your name, do you not know your status?"

"I know my status," I said back. "And I also know yours, yet I have no clue what your name is," his brows frown as he takes a step forward.

"You say another word and I will throw you in a cell," I bow my head in obedience holding back my laughter. "You are my servant, and you will act like it, or you will be the next beheaded man," he says, and I shut my lips. I couldn't help but roll my eyes as he left the room first making sure I followed behind him.
