When Chen Xiangtai sneaked into the ward, Lu Xinglan had indeed fallen asleep again. She tiptoed to fetch some water and then gently wiped his hands and face.
After finishing, she moved a chair over and sat down to keep watch through the night.
Lu Xinglan was awakened by the cold, and in his drowsy state, he saw a girl wrapped up in his blanket, lying at the side of his bed, sleeping soundly. He tugged at the blanket, which didn't move, and feeling extremely sleepy, he just pulled a corner over himself and lay back down to sleep.
Never an early riser, Lu Xinglan, for the first time, woke up at six in the morning, again because of the cold. There was only a small portion of the blanket on his legs, the rest lying beside his legs, and under the blanket, alongside his legs, was someone else.
He tugged at the blanket, "Nurse Chen."
There was a slight movement from beneath.
"Nurse Chen!"
It wasn't that he was grumpy from waking up, he simply wasn't grumpy by nature.
