Chapter 373 - Not the Same Man

The forest was silent again.

Smoke drifted between the trees where the battle had scarred the ground, faint traces of lightning and shattered stone still humming with residual energy. Somewhere beyond the Stygian barrier, the cloaked man walked, slow, deliberate, unbothered by the wounds staining his side.

He pulled his hood down and exhaled. The shadows shifted around him like loyal pets, mending torn fabric and dissolving stray light. Beneath the hood, the jagged scar on his cheek caught the faint gleam of moonlight—a reminder of how close Darenn's fist had come.

"Tch," he muttered. "The Earth Guardian still hits like a goddamn boulder."

A rustle answered from the dark.

The man didn't turn; he merely straightened, sensing the distortion in the air ahead. "You can show yourself," he said, voice low. "I'm not in the mood to hunt my own."
