Chapter 3 - Little baby fox struggle

My first day of college begins,

Classes were started but was lost on way to class so started my little adventure around campus again, the college campus so vast I had missed my 1st class and 2nd class was already started so I entered late in class, I am not really an early bird, I literally sucks at it, it's so hard to get up, so I will now have to get up early as 2 hours before the schedule at least and discipline myself to not be tardy so from now my alarm would be set at 15/30 minutes interval.

Anyway, way to go now...

I finally reached my class, after asking around I had somehow got into class by lurking near the door, entered class, got little embarrassed so unknowingly squinted my eyes and took little tongue out n hit my head a little and settle down on my seat. During the class I thought I was only the one, who loves coming late to class but there were others too, glad to see so.

I started to blend in by hiding my presence and enjoying my company because I'm an introvert and initially found it incredibly awkward to initiate a conversation. A latecomer sat next to me after class concluded and introduced himself and a couple of his pals. When his partner showed up later, we had a little conversation about the class schedule and exchanged contact details so that we could talk about issues pertaining to the university. I was getting so bored that I made the decision to forgo later sessions, take a day off, and rest away from the crowd.

Time went by without any butterflies, music, or sudden, agonizing visions; It appeared as if time had stopped. I was excited to go home and see my parents toward the end of my first semester, where I felt at once liberated and acutely conscious of their concern for me. Given that it being the weekend, my family made the decision to have dinner outside and have a little fun. It felt like I was getting my lost vitality back, and I started to feel more vibrant than I had in college. Should I come study here and just leave? That night, I made the decision to leave school, discussed my choice with my parents, and went to bed. I initially believed it to be a dream when I entered the new dimension that same night. Unable to wake myself, I slapped myself twice, pinched myself, and bumped into a bystander, I who was perplexed by my own thoughts. I felt pain when bumped, so I fled and found myself in an open area with flowing cherry blossom petals. The view was beautiful.

Then I heard an animal whimper, so I went to investigate. There, I found a little, small snow fox drenched in blood wailing in agony. I tried to help it by approaching it, but it was terrified and tried to flee away, but couldn't because of its leg injury. Thinking it might have been a fracture, I started looking for a stick that would provide support temporarily. After administering first aid, it was a little more docile, so I washed the blood off in stream. Baby fox was having very high fever, was weak from blood loss, loosing and regaining consciousness a waited for baby to feel better and recover some strength, took care of it until baby had fallen into deep sleep. I held the baby in my arms and took it to local veterinarian; afraid fox condition might deteriorate. Doctor said baby had fever, medicines were injected through saline and need to under observation, monitored all night, after proper rest you can take it home afterwards. Rest assured, your baby is in good hands so, don't worry. I cried, with relief that baby will be alright, after letting all tension out of my body. Baby you heard him, you will be alright, ok. I sat near baby, caressing him felt his heart beat beating was relief. I was afraid baby would die by my side just like the squirrel I tried to save when I was child, from that moment I was always afraid getting close to any animal when hurt, so that they wont die staying by my side.

When doctor had asked for his fees, I checked my pockets, didn't have any money. I turned my face towards him and apologized, sorry doctor I don't have any money, I will work for you, would it be fine? Doctor being kind soul and seeing my puppy face nodded and said," Ok child, you can work till you cover all medicine fees, is that okay for you?" Before he would say anything more I interrupted and said confidently, "don't worry doctor, I will work doctor, I will do everything here, all work consider it done, I will do everything for the baby". I glance a baby and said," Don't worry baby I won't let anything happen to you, ok, take care. I started following doctor's instruction and took care of rest of the animals,' keeping eye on baby just in case. Everything went well, doctor asked me." How this baby snow fox was so hurt? what had happened?", I told him everything.

.....

.....

.....

He then said," Eat something now, May. you are constantly watching and taking care of those babies, you should rest a little and eat something if you don't do so, you may collapse anytime now, then who will look over them and care for your baby and who will pay for bills then." He praised me for my diligent work, concern for me. He gave some food to eat and said after you finish eating, feed all other animals in hospital as well and then sleep as it was getting late. I took the food he gave me, sat next to the baby and ate. I also feed him some food and also his medicines and done same for other animals at hospital and rested near baby. Later at midnight, I heard moaning of baby, as doctor had informed me, he was in hallucinating and was crying, he was struggling so I called out for doctor and asked him what had happened to baby. He is under medication May, so he is hallucinating and he is just sleeping now. Don't worry, everything is fine. Go back to sleep. He just needed some rest.

.....

I slept keeping an eye on him. Next morning, I felt some paw hitting me. I woke up saw baby was watching over me and playing with my hairs. Doctor said when he arrived," See I told you, he will be fine". See how he is playing with you. Take him back where you had found him and give him to his mother she might also be searching for her baby, raging in anger. No need for your service now, your payment is done. So, don't worry about bill, relax and take care. Come by later, if you need anything. Thank you, doctor thank you for your generosity.

I took baby and went to the same spot where I came from and search for baby mother nearby, but I couldn't find any fox in sight. I decided to go further where tree is denser, and found fox in vicinity and showing her baby to her. Seeing the baby fox, mother fox approached us, I put the baby down on ground she came close to the baby sniff and licked it, she approached me and as a sign of gratitude bow her head a little and stood there waiting for me to touch her head. I hesitate first but she stood there silently, I touched her head then she nodded her head and then stand by her baby, a small crest form on my hand...

What what is this?

I heard the fox voice in my head, "Thank you child for bringing back my child to me and taking care of him". This crest on your hand is a gift and blessing from me, Snow fox tribe, Queen. The tribe will help and assist you whenever you needed our help in difficult situation. Don't say No, Its done already, and can't be erased

Contemplating further I simply said,

"Thank you, Fox Queen".

Baby is fine now, so don't worry. Baby fox said," May, May" who was playing in snow came closed to me. I cuddled the baby and before it went back with his mother and bid our farewell to each other. as soon as baby went into deep forest, I passed out and later

I woke up abruptly after hearing a sound that sounded like my alarm; it was as if a powerful force had jolted me back to reality and put a stop to my dream. I was on my bed when I realized that I was holding a petal, which makes me wonder whether it was a dream or a reality. I looked back to see if the crest that was imprinted on me was still there or not, and it was there.

Crest marking was there on my hand....

It shone brightly for a while and turned crimson red and then disappeared
