Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

On the very first page of the book, Ming Yue was dumbfounded—not because the name was strange, but because she could actually read the words! "I can read this!" she exclaimed softly.

She stared at the words again to confirm it wasn't an alien language. To her surprise, it was written in her own native tongue from her previous world. "How is this possible?" she wondered. "Could the author be from my world?" The thought stunned her, then quickly filled her with joy.

Once her excitement settled, Ming Yue began to scheme. She took the book back to the keeper, pretending she couldn't read the language. "Sir, I found this book but I don't understand what's written on it," she said.

The keeper was surprised when he took the book and opened it. Ming Yue smirked inwardly, pleased that her plan was working. Since she couldn't read the local language, she assumed the keeper couldn't read hers, either. If she could take this book along with another in the local language, she could solve her problem without removing any forbidden items.

"How did this kind of book get here? It's not even a martial art manual!" the keeper muttered, confused. "Some people really are blind." Ming Yue wondered who "some people" were but she dismissed it.

The keeper then told her to continue her search. Ming Yue hesitated before asking, "Keeper, can I keep this book?"

"Why? It's going to be destroyed," he replied.

"I'm practicing writing and don't want to mess up my own papers," she explained. "So I want this book to write on. Since you're going to destroy it anyway..."

The keeper sympathized, knowing Ming Yue was one of the abandoned, still struggling despite her potential. "Alright, you can have it," he said.

Ming Yue bowed gratefully, inwardly proud of her successful plan. Now all she needed were two more books or talismans for the girl she was helping. Since she could read the "Sun and Moon" book, which combined internal and external martial arts, she felt confident that she had hit the jackpot.

It had been three days since she left the treasury, and today was the day to begin practicing. The book advised that beginners start cultivating under a full moon.

From her understanding, the "Sun and Moon" art was a yin-yang style martial art: the moon representing the female yin and the sun the male yang. It could be practiced solo, which was difficult, or with a male companion, which made cultivation easier through "Taoist coupling." Ming Yue was determined to practice alone, as finding a willing male partner was unlikely—and she was too lazy to look.

The book contained more cultivation knowledge than she had found in her previous disguise. Cultivation improved health, longevity, and power. The ultimate goal was to reach godhood and immortality, but Ming Yue wasn't interested in such lofty dreams—she just wanted a lazy and interesting life.

According to the book, all living beings comprises of three components: Essence (vitality and bloodline power), Energy (origin of true essence), and Soul (primordial spirit combining mind and will). Cultivation strengthened these three, manifesting a martial artist's ultimate power.

True essence had three forms: Qi (vital energy in all things), spiritual energy from heaven and earth (accessible at the advanced Xiantian realm), and the original energy of heaven and earth, which was converted into personal energy to fit the body.

Qi circulation involved controlling Qi to flow through meridians in a cycle, replenishing stamina, purifying Qi, and strengthening the body's channels.

Ming Yue was deciding whether to be a pure martial cultivator (focusing on body strength), pure essence gatherer (focusing on true essence), or a balanced martial cultivator (combining both) but after a while, She chose the pure essence gathering system for a faster cultivation path and hoped to find a powerful shield later.

The book also explained cultivation realms: Mortal, Earth, and Heaven. She guessed the book she took was Earth realm but resolved to take things step by step.

Practicing under the full moon was easiest, and the book described four special moons—full, blue, blood, and golden—each with unique effects. The full moon comes twelve to thirteen times a year going through phases and it is very suitable for those practising moon related martial arts because there is no side effects, the blue moon on the other hand is known as a seasonal type of moon that comes every season and the moons in this continent changes from three usual full moons to four and the colour turns blue and what makes this moon special is that it can indeed make moon related martial artists practice four to five times faster than the full moon and it had no side effects but it only lasts for a hour while the blood moon enhanced mental ability but risked bloodlust and insanity. The golden moon is extremely rare and could heal and empower both body and soul.

Sitting cross-legged on a dilapidated house beam, Ming Yue began cultivating as the full moon rose. She had carefully checked the area to avoid being interrupted.

She followed the book's Qi circulation pattern, amazed at how her body absorbed the moon's energy endlessly. Her mind relaxed deeply, almost sleepy.

"Didn't the book say this would be hard?" she thought while twitching her lips a little,"I forgot this is the law of transmigration! What's difficult for others is easy for transmigrators."

With that thought, she continued her cultivation journey, hopeful and determined.
