"...", she heard silence from the other side of the phone. "Maxi!?", Riri called out. "I'm sorry I was trying to work out whether what I heard was true or my drunk brain was making it up", Maxi told her. "It's not your drunk brain", Riri responded. "So your telling me that man is inside your home right now and he will be staying the night", Maxi excitedly said. Riri rolled her eyes "So out of the whole story I just told you, you ignore the part about Ian and only concerned with the one about Rafi", "Ooh so you are calling each other by your names, how cute", at this point Riri felt like hanging up, she had a flashback of him calling her Riri back in the taxi and how her heart skipped a beat, she guessed they were on first name basis now. "Forget all that about Ian girl, he wouldn't dare do anything, I know you said that you didn't want Ant involved but we will discuss again in the morning, for now there is a sexy AF man in your house and I need you to let me teach you how to seduce him..."
"Give it rest Maxi", Riri interrupted her friend. "Girl, I am being totally serious right now, listen you have always lived you life on the good side and where did that get you, hurt by someone you considered a friend and a future life partner" Riri didn't respond to her friend. "Life is too short so why not grab this opportunity to live it, you can't always be stuck in those medical books of yours or at the hospital, you are saving lives sure but what about yours, if you had your way you wouldn't have come to my party tonight which means you would have never met that man who by the way is super hot, intelligent, funny and has been supporting you all night, even now he is at your house to keep you safe. You know I would never suggest you hooking up with a random stranger but this guy, he's different! He just seems so genuine and real, I just get good vibes....I will stop now I have been droning on for a while now" Maxi finished her nagging at her friend. Riri was in deep thought following her friends advise, what Maxi had said about Rafi was similar to her own feelings about him otherwise she would of never let a male into a home like this, she could feel herself opening up to him and that scared her.
Riri heard a knock on her door "Everything all right in there, you have been in there for a while?", Rafi questioned through the closed door. "Everything is fine, will be out in a sec", Riri said while swiftly picking up her phone to take Maxi off loud speaker. "Ok I have ordered some food, it will be here shortly, he added. "I better go", she whispered down the phone worried that Rafi might hear them. Before hanging up she could hear her friend singing an inappropriate song (insert any sexy song you like here ;) as she had gone back to teasing Riri.
A while later the young doctor who had now washed up and finally changed into comfy pajama's came out of her bedroom. She saw the policeman sitting on her sofa in the living room, he was holding pink cushion in his lap with his arms wrapped around it, his head was leaned back and eyes closed, he seemed to be taking a nap. She kept watching him for a period of time, she smiled at the thought that her home felt so comfy with him in it and Maxi's words plus her own fears came to her mind. She found herself walking over to him, she sat next to him and picked up one of her books to read. The harmonious atmosphere that had been accumulated for a stretch of time came to end when Rafi's phone buzzed which woke him from his semi conscious slumber, he wanted to ignore it but knew he couldn't. He rubbed his eyes awake as he looked at his phone, after replying to Rio's message he looked over to the young lady, she was sitting next to him on the sofa with her legs bended up with her feet on the sofa, on her knees a book rested, she was so engrossed in her book that she did not notice that he had awoken. She was now dressed in silk pj's, her hair was up in a bun, she had no makeup not that she needed it and he could smell refreshing lavender in the air which he knew was coming from her. He grinned and leaned his cheek on to one of his hands as his elbow was placed on his knee, he continued to gaze at her, she was attractive in every way and he knew she already had a place in his heart.
"Is it an interesting read", Rafi asked while tapping the top of her book. Riri pulled down her book now realizing he was awake. "For a doctor, yes it is", she answered. She looked at his tired face and couldn't resist leaning forward to touch his cheek, catching him off guard, "You look tired why don't you sleep some more", Riri remarked. Touched by her gesture, he grabbed her hand on his face and held it in his. He had a long day but her one touch had driven his sleepiness away! "I'm okay, Rio will be here shortly with our food, don't be too shocked he will dressed as a delivery driver this time, it's our way of getting a closer look at what the two of them doing", Rafi explained. "So they are still out there", Riri remarked with a solemn expression, Rafi squeezed her hand in response.
"Ding dong", the both of them heard the doorbell, Rafi got up from the sofa and made his way to door, Riri followed closely behind. From the intercom in the entryway they could see that it was a food delivery man but his cap was hiding his face. Rafi gestured for Riri to stay behind him before opening the door, what met his sight was another goofy faced friend. Riri not recognizing the man immediately turned to Rafi with an confused expression. "Your food sir", the cheeky man said. Rafi felt his eye twitch with anger, "Ah yes", he said sternly trying to suppress his anger. The man pulled off the large delivery bag from his bank and stepped inside the doorway and into the entry so they were out of sight, the man placed the bag down on the floor and started picking food items out and then a backpack came out all of which was handed to Rafi who placed it on the round table behind them.
The man was now staring at Riri, "And this is?", he asked curiously. "None of your damn business", Rafi retorted while standing in front of Riri to hide her from his view. "Hey, come on I just got woken up, got all this stuff together for you and carried this heavy bag, the least you can do is to is introduce me your best friend", the strange man said. 'Why is this guy so similar to Rio, Rafi has a type for his best friends huh', she laughed to herself. Rafi pinched the skin between his brows "This is Danny", he pointed towards Danny "His childhood best friend", Danny interrupted. "And?", Danny said as he was eagerly awaiting for this young lady's name. Seeing Rafi hesitate while giving this man a scrutinizing look, "I'm Rhiannon, Riri for short", she said behind Rafi. "Aww Riri what a beautiful name for a beautiful women", he said with a dashing smile.
Danny was a similar height to Rafi which was quite tall, Rio was slightly shorter than them, he had black sleek backed hair with black eyes, she compared him and Rio earlier but she could see clearly now this man was more on the mature and very charming side while Rio was the cute shy type. "Enough, care to explain why it's you and not Rio", Rafi asked further irritated. "Oh, that guy called me for a favor he didn't want to leave his post, so I went to pack your belongings for the night and drop them off, he promised to explain what was going on once I got here", he said while smiling over at Riri. "And how does that explain why you NOT a policeman have come to carry out an task for surveillance", Rafi could feel his anger rising. He had only two friends that he was close to, why were they both so annoying!
"Umm well I came all this way and after hearing about tonight's events, I kind of begged somewhat threatened Rio to let me come in his stead, you don't have to worry he explained what I had to do and come on you know I got this, I just wanted to see our future sister in law!", he exclaimed confidently.
