I walked over, and the sound of my steps making her jump. "You're hiding," I stated flatly, stopping beside the table.
Sari looked up at me, startled. Her eyes were glassy, rimmed with red. She quickly wiped her cheek with the back of her hand, sniffing.
"I am not hiding," she shot back, though her voice lacked its usual tone. "I'm… just eating food secretly, you know reflecting things. It's what heroes do."
"Heroes usually reflect with training, not a food in their stomach," I countered.
I sighed, took off my suit, and dropped it over her shoulders. It covered her frame, the fabric still warm from my body.
She blinked, pulling the coat tighter around herself, burying her nose slightly. "Thanks," she mumbled, her voice small. "Aren't you cold?"
"I'm fine. The cold doesn't bother me," I lied. I sat down next to her, leaving a respectable foot of distance between us.
