Malrik felt existential dread as he looked at the creature rise from the wreckage. Inside the swirling darkness were the bodies of the Surneth warriors that Diana had killed.
They mixed with the darkness, becoming a part of whatever this creature rose. It looked like a golem of dark tendrils that swayed as the creature rose.
It kept growing under their observing eyes until it looked like a small building. Four arms emerged, two on each side, and they swayed like whips.
The creature had no physical body except for the black tar that kept absorbing everything around it—metal, wood, and corpses. It grew with each passing second as a snicker emerged from the void within.
"You think you can kill me?" the familiar voice of Invidia asked. "I am the devourer of souls. I am the stealer of fate. I am the one who takes, but never gives. I am… famine."
