'Why is Sensei still thinking about me?' Mei asked Aki softly with a longing voice.
Aki looked at Noah while saying to Mei, 'It's the phantom memories. They're trying to surface, creating a void he can't ignore. If he gives in, everything will rush back.'
Mei's eyes widened in surprise. 'Did you purposely do that?'
Aki's tone sounded like there was genuine hope for her to reunite with Noah.
'You knew he would have them. Does that mean I can be with him again?' Mei was eager to hear his opinion.
'Even if the old memories don't fully return,' Aki smiled gently, 'you can always make new ones.'
Mei's eyes immediately sparkled. He hugged Aki tightly, a rush of excitement making him lightheaded, 'Thank you! I thought you wouldn't want me to love him.'
Just then, Noah, curious about the intense exchange, stepped down to join them. 'What's going on here?' he asked suspiciously.
'Nothing much,'Aki said, meeting Noah's gaze with a teasing smile. 'He was just asking about his lover.'
