Tad awoke in the early morning to the smell of bacon and eggs cooking down stairs in the kitchen, his dad usually did this in the morning to help Tad get out of bed and start his morning since he snoozes his alarms more often than not. As his dad was finishing the last bit of the bacon to start the eggs Tad dresses himself and gathers his school books and homework from the night before, summer homework for advanced placement classes and honor classes. As he comes down stairs his dad is plating breakfast so they can eat before they start their day. It's the first day of senior year, Tad is excited to start picking colleges and expand his horizons in life. He and his dad chatted while eating breakfast going back and forth with small talk and generally open ended questions that got Tad thinking about what he was going to do once he got into college and which college would be the best fit. Before he knew it it was time to go, Tad grabbed his truck keys and went out the door with a quick see you later he was off. He drove down the street towards his friends house, Gus, Tad picked Gus up for school everyday last year and wanted to keep the tradition up. He said good morning to his parents and Gus came down the stairs excited he missed the last three steps and tumbled to Tad's feet. Tad offered his hand and helped pick Gus off the floor, shortly after they where driving to the school jamming music with the widows down since it was still warm enough too. Pulling into the student parking lot Tad made a habit out of parking by his friends who eagerly waited for the two of them to show up. The first friend to greet them was Cado the third to their three musketeers, also with Cado was Niki Tad has a crush on Niki and has quite figured out how to tell her. Among them were other students in their class, but this group mainly associated with band kids since the four of them started playing in the marching band their freshman year. They started walking toward the main campus quad once there they went their separate ways to first period. Tad walked to the science building Tad regretted picking human anatomy as his AP science class the summer homework was tedious and difficult, but he managed to get it all done under the wire. As he took his seat in the middle of the room the bell rang and class began. Half way through first period he got a text from Cado saying it was urgent and that they needed to talk during their free period. Tads first thought was great now it's the first day and I already have to save his ass. That last half of first period dragged on, but the bell rang and he handed in his work and rushed out in to the quad where he met Cado. They walked to the parking lot to sit in Cado's car and talk about what that text meant. Once in the vehicle he looked Tad in the eyes and said, "Party this weekend my house, my parents just told me they were going out of town on Friday and they wouldn't be back until late Monday or early Tuesday morning."
Tad looked at Cado and for a moment thought it was a clever joke but the look in his eyes was sincere. " Okay so what are going to do at this party you know as well as I do we don't have a hook up anymore all of them for college."
" That's the great part my cousin finished his last semester and is taking a break and staying at my house for the meantime and he his twenty-two so he could totally buy for us." Cado said with excitement in his voice.
"Come on man, another family member that's how we got screwed last time they backed out at the last second and without warning I might add." Tad said with disappointment in his voice.
"No man this one is legit he already started stocking up he said it's going to be a rager and the best way for us to kick off senior year." Cado said with confidence.
"Alright man but if this falls through it's on you and you get to tell everyone the bad news, I'm still recovering form the last time I had to break it. I lost serious points with Niki bro. You know I love you but I will beat you up man I swear." Tad said with some excitement.
They decided to cruise down to the convenient store, once there they each picked out a drink and paid and walked back to the car and drove back to school just in time to hear the ending of second period bell. They both agreed to invite a few people and work on a strategy to get everyone out for the party. Tad walked up the stairs to the English portion of the building which happen to share the same building as the History classrooms. As he walked into class he saw Niki and started walking toward her and sat in the empty desk next to her saying hello again as he sat down, she just smiled at him and giggled a bit. After English the rest of the day went by quickly even marching band practice went faster than normal, these freshman have some skill for their first day on the practice field I guess letting them shadow us during summer camp was a great idea. The instructor dismissed them for the afternoon, Tad and Gus loaded up in the truck for the trek home.
"Did Cado tell you the plan for this weekend?" Tad asked.
"No what's going on?" Gus said to him confused.
"He has having a party this weekend while his parents are out of town, and before you ask yes he does have a buyer and they are already preparing for the weekend." Tad said.
"Sweet I'm excited now, haven't had a good party in awhile." Gus said with excitement.
The conversation was short but by the end they were pulling into the driveway at Gus's house, as he hopped out of the truck he waived at Tad and and walked inside his house. When Tad arrived home he took out some meat to defrost for dinner that night so it was ready to cook when his dad got home. After diner Tad did his nightly routine and then went off to bed he had a hard time falling asleep with anticipation of Friday night danced in his head until he couldn't stay up any later and the fell asleep.
