Ezekiel's jaw clenched. He didn't answer directly. He couldn't. Not without dooming her. Instead, he drew in a steady breath and lifted his chin. "I gave her my word. That she would have justice."

Melisca had hurt his people, even killed some. But even him, he couldn't blame her for what she did. Besides, she'd only killed those who were involved from the ambush in the mountains nine years ago. And who took her father's life.

Her saving Maia in the forest—his distant cousin, even knowing she was a vampire, meant a lot to what she truly was. She had a fair judgement on her own. She didn't hold any grudge towards other races and it seemed like she didn't want to have any involvement with them. She didn't want any conflicts. Her problem was with the wolves only and hunters.

Ezekiel stepped forward again and came to the center aisle. His voice was like steel now. "Not revenge. Justice. That I would see to it."
