Melisca noticed that her father was looking differently at her like something was playing on his mind as he stared at her with regret and grief in his eyes. Like he knew something inevitable would happen to her.
He reached for her and he placed a hand at the back of her head as he pulled her to his chest. "I'm so sorry that I wasn't by your side in all this. That I wasn't able to protect you both as I should." He also gathered his mate in his arms and he both kissed their temples. "You two are the most important to me in this world. You are my life." A tear escaped from his eyes.
He never questioned the moon goddess for giving him a human mate. He was just so ecstatic back then. He was thankful that he found her at last after being mateless for a long time. And he was supposed to inherit father's position as an Alpha of Wildcrest Pack. But he rejected it for he chose to go after his mate. He chose to leave his pack. To have his own family.
