Vex and Zek broke into a run, their footsteps echoing through the metal halls. The deeper they went, the louder the chaos became. Metal tore, men shouted, and an eerie roar emerged from something that shouldn't exist.
"Pierce, report!" Vex shouted into the earpiece.
Static crackled, followed by labored breathing and gunfire. "Boss—it woke up! The hybrid's awake! It broke through the cage—" a grunt, then a scream echoed near the comm, "—it's attacking everyone! We can't stop it!"
The line went dead with the sound of something heavy hitting the floor.
Zek's golden eyes flared. "She's awake," he muttered, his voice low, grim, and filled with restrained fear.
