CHAPTER 196

 

He stood up straight. "You better make it, wolf king," he muttered as he moved. "Because if she kills you, I'm not dragging your corpse back to your throne." Vex's voice sliced through the noise. "Bring him in," he ordered to his men outside.

 

The men at the corridor entrance pushed and hesitated, worried the white wolf would leap out of the pit and attack anyone who leaned too close. Their delay earned them a curse and an irritated shout from Vex through his earpiece. He let a moment of silence pass, then spoke in a slow, dangerous tone: "Three seconds. If you don't bring him in, I'll feed every one of you to this pit myself."

 

That threat got their attention. Hands grabbed the lab coat and pulled the man forward like a sack. He trembled, his glasses crooked, papers spilling from his pockets. Two of Vex's men dragged him to the edge of the pit and shoved him the final step until he stood within reach of Vex.
