"Shatter!"
The area froze in place, the sound of ice growing echoing throughout the chamber. The ice grew on the monster's legs and slowly began to grow upward, encasing his chest with it.
The air had gone cold, allowing my breath to become visible. The windows began to frost up, becoming impossible to see through. Ice had begun to slowly grow on my arm, sending a jolt of pain through my body which I pushed through.
"What is this!?" The monster shouted, trying to shake the ice off him.
The monster began shaking desperately, doing anything in his power to make the growing ice break off of him. It was of no use as the ice just continued to crawl its way up, eventually reaching his shoulders. His eyes widening as the idea of losing finally seemed to reach his brain.
"Tell me! What is this power?!" The ice began moving to his head.
"Something I don't ever wish to use again." I said before snapping my fingers.
The ice surrounding the monster shattered into hundreds of pieces, defeating him instantly. The hand I had used to snap with was almost completely frozen over and I figured it would take a few days before it would make a full recovery.
I turned towards Nizhoni who had a scared look on her face. Her eyes were focused on what was left of the monster before they focused on me with the same expression. A cold shiver went down my spine, something I never wanted to feel.
"You saved my life… What kind of spell was that and why did you wait so long to use it?! It's seriously awesome!" Nizhoni shot up and shook me by the shoulders.
Her enthusiasm shocked me, "I… It's a spell I was forced to learn by my father. I hate it just as much as I hate him. Can you please not tell anyone what you saw here?"
She gave me a pitiful look before nodding, "of course I'll keep it a secret. Now let's go help Akari!" She grabbed me by the hand and practically dragged me down the stairs, though I didn't put up much of a fight.
I had expected her to be terrified of me and the power I had. It's happened countless times so I've learned to just never use it unless absolutely necessary. I hate this spell so much I can't even tell my own friends about it. But maybe, just maybe, I can tell John and the others. Someday at least.
The two of us walked down the stairs and saw Akari standing by herself. The slime was nowhere in sight which made me think she had bested it. As we got closer, Akari turned to face us. She gave a weak smile before collapsing onto the floor.
"Forgive me… The slime was tougher than I thought and managed to slip away from me."
"I'm just glad you're okay." I said, helping her get up."
