Trixy's POV

The last stairwell door groaned as I pushed it open, spilling me onto the rooftop of Austen University.

Evening air rushed at me—cool and sharp, carrying the faint scent of rain and the distant hum of traffic from the city streets far below. The concrete beneath my shoes still held a whisper of the day's heat, but the breeze lifted strands of my hair and made them dance across my cheeks.

Empty.

The rooftop stretched wide and silent, edged with rusted guardrails and low planters where a few stubborn weeds had claimed their right to grow. Beyond the railings, the skyline glowed: pinpoints of light blooming against the violet dusk. For a heartbeat I wondered if someone had played a trick on me.

Why ask me to come here if no one was waiting?
