Joy Shaw bumped into an embrace.
The familiar scent enveloped her, a scent of fir bathed in sunlight, mixed with the exclusive youthful hormones of a young man, just like when he was carrying her earlier.
Joy quickly looked up and met a pair of cold eyes.
Earlier, Marcus Knight had reached out to steady her, his hand still resting on her waist now.
Immediately after, Marcus released her, took a step back, creating some distance between them.
He placed one hand in the pocket of his school uniform pants, looking at her expressionlessly, his gaze moving down to sweep over her ankle.
The skirt of the school uniform covered her knees, revealing her evenly slender calves, her skin fair and smooth, with her ankle clean and showing no signs of medication or bandaging. From the way she walked out earlier, it didn't seem like a sprained ankle.
Noticing Marcus's gaze, Joy nervously retracted her leg.
Who would have thought Marcus would retrace his steps!
