Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Thane's Story [3]

[5 years later - Unknown Town]

A boy wearing a green cloak over his head walked into a tavern and sat down at the counter, the seats were empty since it was quite early in the morning. He glared at the bartender with an intense look and said, "Did you get the information I asked for?"

The confused bartender replied to the boy, saying, "I did, but I'm not sure why you would want to know about this, what do you plan on doing with this information?"

Thane reached into his own pocket, taking out some gold slamming it onto the counter forcefully, pushing it forward towards the bartender,

"What I plan to do with this information isn't any of your concern; if I recall correctly, you told me that you could get me this information for a good price. I've got the gold, so pay up."

"Look kid I'm not trying to get in your way, I'm just trying to say it'd be best if you don't get involved with these people. They're dangerous. An unknown group that lurk around in this world slaughtering villages, selling captured villagers as slaves to make profits. Whatever you're resentment towards them is, you should forget about it."

His eyes widened after hearing something the bartender, after a few seconds of thinking he jumped up and said, "The slaves! Where do they get sold too?! Where can I find them!?"

"So that's what you're really after... then that would depend, each time it's a different place or buyer, whatever you want to call them, some even go to lands outside of Zarxion. Otherwise, it's usually nobles scattered around the land."

"Lands outside of Zarxion!? If that were the case, I would probably never find her!"

Each time the boy spoke, the bartender seemed to realise more and more of what was going on and started to feel more bad for him. He said,

"I think I have a good idea for where the people you're looking for were sent to though. It's just outside of Azar's domain, east from the capital there should be a secluded mansion hidden in the forest. I can guarantee you my life that they'll be there within the next ten years. Slaves start to lose their value after a while and are killed then replaced after a while. It goes to show how corrupt some nobles can be."

He listened intently and replied,

"How do you know all of this!?"

"Since you asked me to dig up some information about the massacre, this is the least I could've gotten. But I should warn you, become stronger before you go there, as you are now you'd be wiped out in an instant."

The boy bit his lip in frustration knowing that he was weak, knowing that he didn't stand a single chance. He stood up and walked out while saying,

"Don't worry about me, I'll be fine. Thank you for the information one day I hope to come back and repay you graciously."

The bartender had a stern look while the boy left the tavern worrying about what might happen.

[Outside the tavern]

"Hey Thane were you able to find out where she is?"

"Let's not talk about it here Fern, all I can tell you right now is we've got a lot of work to do if we want to save her..."
