Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Shining World

This world has many similarities to the previous life; the technological level is roughly in the early twentieth century, with all the necessary things present, at least Le Yu doesn't have to worry about not having toilet paper.

The biggest difference is that this world has a unified nation.

The East Sea Islands, the thousands of southern territories, the grass fields beyond the border, and even the fertile Central Plains, all of this continent belong to one regime: the Radiant Imperial Court.

The Radiant Imperial Court is not only the unifying regime of this vast land but also a Celestial Mandate regime that has lasted for two thousand years!

When Le Yu dug out this piece of history from Qian Yuliu's memory, he instinctively felt that Qian Yuliu had been brainwashed—kingship has no eternity; how could a feudal regime last for two thousand years? Did the historical cycles get eaten by dogs?

Land annexation, natural and man-made disasters, factional fights, just any set of combos could cause a dynasty to collapse!

But as Le Yu continued reading, he finally discovered the biggest difference between this world and the original one, also the root cause for the eternal kingship of the Radiant Imperial Court: the resource of Luminous Stone.

Luminous Stone is a rare mineral resource widely found in many places, playing a special role in many industrial fields. But its greatest effect is: altering Spiritual Power.

If an infant is implanted with a crystal piece containing Luminous Stone from a young age, after a dozen years of alteration, when the infant grows to adulthood, they can automatically activate their Spiritual Power attributes, and even use Spiritual Power as energy to drive various Luminous Stone machinery or display supernatural abilities.

The activation of Spiritual Power also aids in self-recovery, enhancing resistance, strengthening training effects, and even boosting learning capability. It could be said that in this world, without activated Spiritual attributes, it is equivalent to being disabled.

The founding ancestors of the Radiant Imperial Court discovered the wondrous uses of Luminous Stone for humans, promoted it, built a strong army, and thus established the everlasting foundation of Radiance.

However, while Luminous Stone benefits humanity, it does not benefit the unification of regime; it can even exacerbate political struggles. Nevertheless, through research, the Imperial Court invented two new technologies: Luminous Stone positioning and Luminous Stone echo.

Thus, the first article of the Radiant Constitution, which has been continued for a millennium, was born:

"The brilliance of the Radiant Charters illuminates all citizens."

According to the constitution, all newborns must be implanted with a Luminous Stone crystallite, which has a name derived from the constitution: Radiant Charter. Once the Radiant Charter is implanted in the human body, it will automatically synchronize with the Spiritual Power, and each Radiant Charter is unique.

No one would refuse to have the Radiant Charter implanted, as activating Spiritual Power attributes is a necessary condition for survival in this world. And for the Imperial Court, with Radiant Charters in everyone, the entire world is transparent in their eyes.

Through the Luminous Stone positioning and echo technology, the Imperial Court can know anyone's precise coordinates. From then on, rebellious acts could no longer make waves.

In the history of Radiance, there were rebellions, but for the Imperial Court, they fought with a god's view, while the rebels fought with the fog of war.

The tremendous disparity in intelligence information allows the Imperial Court to easily crush any rebel at any time. They don't even need a large army to suppress; just dispatching small teams of strong individuals can easily achieve victory—with the ability to know the enemy's exact actions at any time, engaging in brilliant strategies like setting fires to cut off food and flipping floors is simple.

Le Yu couldn't help but feel a bit of respect for the ancestors of the Radiant Imperial Court: the existence of the Radiant Charter is like giving everyone in the world a set of armor, yet adding a weakness for all. Even knowing they'll add a new weakness, no one can refuse this gift.

However, no matter how great the technology and system, eventually, an end will come.

In the year 2082 of the Radiant Era, the Skyrim region raised the flag of Backlight, and Skyrim's governor Ma Yuanyi was sacrificially executed.

In the year 2083 of the Radiant Era, Backlight rebellion elements appeared in all administrative regions, and the 145th Radiant Emperor was assassinated and died. In the same year, a decree was issued that made everyone ecstatic:

"Each political region may suppress Backlight rebellion elements on its own, and may mobilize troops autonomously without reporting to the Cardinal Department."

To Le Yu, this decree was clearly one of the origins of the chaotic times. With this decree, all governors could openly grasp military power, unifying military and political power, appointing officials, turning their territories into countries within a country.

But for Le Yu, compared to the world situation, he was more interested in the superpsychic Spiritual Power activated by the 'Radiant Charter'.

He touched the back of his neck; the Radiant Charter was implanted right on the spine above his neck, almost imperceptible to touch, as if it had already blended into his body.

For centuries, people of Radiance have developed various super techniques for utilizing Spiritual Power, known as 'Combat Technique' and 'Secret Technique'. Qian Yuliu didn't use any weapon but just with his bare hands removed Le Yu's head, using Spiritual Power Combat Technique.

Besides the offensive measures, the surge in Spiritual Power grants Awakeners an almost prescient sense of danger. The most direct manifestation is that all Junior Awakeners can automatically avoid aimed attacks!

Le Yu left the car and glanced at the bullet hole crack on the front windshield; he didn't feel much lingering fear in his heart.

Because when he swerved his head to dodge the shot earlier, it wasn't due to luck but an involuntary skill.

For an Awakener like him, unless faced with a dense hail of bullets, he would automatically evade whenever a gun was aimed at him!

'A world where everyone is a Superpower User…'

Le Yu and Chen Fu entered the Statistical Department. The front desk staff greeted them nonchalantly, and the officers they passed by had calm expressions, all indifferent to the attack that just happened.

Was it accustomed to such events, or was it fearlessness?

They belonged to the first action team of the special work unit of the Statistical Department, located on the second floor of the department. Le Yu went to the office on the second floor, and a young man sitting near the door smiled and said, "Captain Qian is back. Can we get off work now?"

Qian Yuliu was the captain of the first action team. Although he himself was unaware, being able to hold this position given his age and background was a testament to Qian Yuliu's extraordinary talent.

Le Yu read Qian Yuliu's memory and calmly said in his tone, "There are 10 minutes left; leaving early will deduct your bonus."

"Ah—it's so boring, and the rare field trip was snatched by the captain. Did you capture any Backlight particles?" The young man stretched and fiddled with a pen.

"Alright Zhu Junjie, then all future field tasks will be assigned to you." Chen Fu chuckled and sat down, putting his feet up on the table, "Captured a really useless Backlight particle, got its head removed by Brother Qian as soon as it showed up, not interesting at all."

"Those Backlight rebels are like that; if they had brains, who would be foolish enough to oppose the Imperial Court?" Zhu Junjie laughed.

"Our county is considered good; the neighboring Yingjiao County had Backlight rebels seizing arms yesterday, and the people at the Yingjiao County Statistical Department are busy working overtime 24 hours, unlike us who can drink tea and read newspapers till quittin' time," said another female officer, Ailili.

"Who knows when these Backlight rebels will be fully eradicated, I was initially planning to join the Internal Affairs Department, who would have expected to be transferred to the Statistical Department…" the handsome male officer Zhou Guangshi complained.

Chen Fu giggled, "We know, Little Zhou Zhou wanted to join the Internal Affairs for a promotion. Oh, wait, I misspoke; I should address you as Governor Zhou. When you get wealthy, don't forget us!"

Everyone else teased with laughter, "Governor Zhou, remember us when you're rich!" "Wealth and rank, don't forget us!" "Zhou Zhou, make sure to remember!"

Le Yu did not partake in the discussion; Qian Yuliu was not the type of leader who enjoyed friendly interactions with subordinates.

However, according to their words, the special agent team of the Statistical Department seemed to have little work usually, implying that he could enjoy some peaceful, low-key days, and meeting the task challenge of 'survive 15 days' shouldn't be difficult…

Suddenly, a sinister greeting came from the door:

"The entire building can hear your chatting."
