Chapter 28 - Chapter 16: The Blind-Eyed but Clear-Hearted Young Marquis

There are very few people in the world who can speak of the Emperor's whim. Yong'an Commandery Princess, being the Emperor's junior, is the only one who dares to do so. After all, she pulled the Emperor's beard as a child and even tattled on the Emperor when she grew up. She fancied the court musician and wanted to obtain him from the Emperor, but the Emperor was unwilling. Yong'an Commandery Princess complained to the Empress Dowager, who then tugged the Emperor's ear and had him give the musician to Yong'an Commandery Princess.

The Emperor was not angry but rather pleased with Yong'an Commandery Princess's tattling behavior, as being in a high position for so long, he hadn't experienced such precious familial affection in quite a while. Thus, not only did he give the court musician to Yong'an Commandery Princess, but also rewarded her with additional gifts.

Yong'an Commandery Princess led Tianmiao to the entrance of the reception hall and then stopped. The Emperor wanted to ask some questions about the prophetic lineage and didn't want these questions to be overheard by others.

After Tianmiao went in alone, she saw the Emperor in ordinary attire standing in the middle of the reception hall, seemingly lost in thought. The Emperor, now over fifty, still didn't appear old, carrying an imposing presence without anger, revealing his decisive nature from his younger days.

Upon sensing someone enter, the Emperor turned to look at the person coming in.

Then, he faltered.

This young woman, why does she give him the feeling reminiscent of the Empress Dowager?

To be precise, it's like the feeling of the Empress Dowager coldly watching him when he did something wrong.

Why does this absurd feeling occur?

The person clearly appears to be a young girl not even twenty years old.

Tianmiao paid no heed to it and stepped forward, boldly sitting down.

"Are you truly from the prophetic lineage?" The Emperor, noticing the person in front of him not performing the usual formalities, increasingly felt that she must indeed be from the prophetic lineage, as they are always rebellious, indifferent to and dismissive of such etiquette.

"Is this the question the Emperor wanted to ask me?" Tianmiao picked up the tea prepared earlier from beside her. Ah, the temperature was just right. Yong'an Commandery Princess is thoughtful in such matters.

"The emergence of the prophetic lineage is always due to imminent chaos, to aid rulers in unifying the empire, restoring order, and saving the people. You suddenly appear, is it because chaos is about to unfold?" The Emperor, although merely questioning, felt somewhat disturbed deep down. As a ruler, he is naturally most sensitive to such rumors.

"You think too much." Tianmiao slowly replied after taking a sip of tea, "I came for only one person. The world is peaceful now, you should have some confidence in yourself. Continue your prospering reign."

For some reason, upon hearing the young woman rudely say he was overthinking, the Emperor wasn't angry at all. Furthermore, when he heard the latter part, he unexpectedly felt pride and joy as if being praised.

"You said you came for only one person? And that person is…" The Emperor, unknowingly, began using formal language towards the person in front of him.

For some reason, the Emperor always felt a bit nervous in front of this girl.

"Evidently." Tianmiao appeared somewhat impatient, waving to interrupt the Emperor's words, "Do you have anything else to discuss? If not, go back and handle your affairs."

"No, none at all. Then, should I go back?" The Emperor instinctively straightened his body and quickly responded.

After speaking, the Emperor realized the feeling of tightening up and responding was much like the guilty scene when caught by the Empress Dowager not doing his homework back then. Who exactly is this young woman? Her presence is too overwhelming.

"Mm." Tianmiao, uninterested in dealing with unrelated people, nodded lightly.
