Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 - First Encounter | Part 2. |

Nicolay Burkhardt - Pov.

Location - North | Roads of Perdition.

I find it quite hilarious, the fact that my first hunt will turn out to be a Reinigen and even more so that the place where it is is called the roads of perdition.

He is seriously who the heck names the places in the north, they need a lot of imagination.

At the moment I am with my father on the outskirts of a small border town in the northern territory, I must say that personally, the only thing I like about the place is the climate.

The rest, it is all exactly as I imagined a poor and gloomy place, anyone from my previous world could easily mistake it for the perfect setting for a horror movie or a video game of the same genre, it may be obvious due to the time in which I find myself but for some reason, this fills me with emotion, previously I was a staunch follower of medieval fantasy and being inside one despite the problems is pretty cool.

"We are close."

My father's voice brought my attention back, we were currently walking on a path inside the forest.

We are trying to find footprints or rather father tries to teach me how to do it, with just one look around is enough for the hairs on the body to scratch, the environment was strangely quiet.

"Found something cool."

I said as I advanced a few meters, lowering my body I put my right hand next to a strange footprint that was already beginning to show symptoms of getting lost in the snow.

I looked at her for a few seconds and then saw my father.

"The last footprint, because of the deterioration I imagine that the Reinigen passed through this place about two and a half hours ago, probably heading north of the forest." I waved to the spot after I got up and wiped the snow off my knee.

Father made himself investigate for him, in the end after a few seconds he ended up nodding with a slight smile "Let's go."

It was approximately 20 minutes later when the echo of a shriek was heard in the forest, stopping our progress we shared a look, nodding and then moving forward.

As I recall, the Reinigen, despite being Wesen, do not have as developed a sense of smell as the Bludbat, so there was no danger of approaching at least within the radius of a few meters.

This is supposed to be my litmus test, to put it another way, to know how good I am at hunting.

"Father, let me try first." I said while looking at him askance.

He seemed to debate it in his mind for a few minutes until as he always nodded with a serious look, having the permission to walk forward as he drew the crossbow with a slight clip sound it was ready and loaded to fire.

Something interesting about the Reinigen is that the way they squeal is similar to the rats from my other world, or by default rats, in general, would not know if in each world there are the same or there are variants for a moment I felt like one of those pest exterminators, I remember having an experience with that and it was not pleasant at all to see more than a thousand rats running towards you at the same time.

Hunting is easy or relatively good, if you have a god blessed body that can learn everything almost instantly just by looking at it ... Ok, hunting is not that easy but you get the point.

As he moved slowly through the thick snow road without making a single noise, in the distance the movement of a squatting body can be briefly discerned.

Changing direction I moved to the right keeping the crossbow high, I stopped once I settled behind a tree, once I had a vision, place one knee on the ground and aim, according to the distance of the objective, an estimated 22 meters of distance, with the force of the wind the inclination of the crossbow and the pointed direction of the arrow the shot would have to be perfect.

Head, jugular, heart, liver, lungs, ligaments.

So many targets to choose from, they reinitiate them as their counterparts are hard to kill.

At least of course you cut their heads off or have a sniper reflex, but with an ancient weapon like a crossbow it is not possible to kill with one shot even to the head, the Wesen would have room to escape so we would have to go for the second option.

Slightly lowering the inclination of the crossbow, I calmed my breath, the whitish mist caused by the warm breath mixing with the cold outside left my lips continuously, all the sounds from the outside had been attenuated from one moment to another leaving only the quiet resonance of my heart.

Taking the finger to the trigger I waited for the Wesen to get up off the ground, he was about to start sniffing the air when.

Shoot.

The arrow traveled quickly cutting the air, when the Reinigen could hear something it was too late for him.

*Shriek*

A loud shriek of pain was heard in the forest when and the arrow of my crossbow pierced his Achilles heel, almost immediately fell to the ground bleeding, he tried to get up but found it impossible so he chose to escape by crawling hurtfully for him I was already running in his direction.

When he saw me next to him he growled to try to scare me, look at this rat he sure has them on well he does not seem scared when he looks me in the eyes only slightly surprised this confirms that the Grimms are not yet as feared as in the series and even in this some were not afraid of Grimms that I do not like at all.

A Reinigen would shit to see even Grimm, but it seems that this one does not care even on the ground bleeding the bastard dares to look at me as prey, fucking lack of respect abounds here, I'm sure I'm going to change this no It suits my pride to see such a brave fucking rat in front of a Grimm.

Without wasting any more time, I put him in and

an arrow between the eyebrows.

Just when he let out the last shriek I felt a chill run through my body, almost immediately the sound of rapid footsteps entered my ears.

In response, I threw my body to the side rolling on the ground, I could see out of the corner of my eye another Reinigen passing over me trying to attack me from behind.

"You bastard rat ..."

When you finish rolling, raise the crossbow in two quick shots key the arrows in the wesen's forehead and heart.

Nicholas Burkhardt - Pov.

It had been a long time since I ventured on a hunt, since my wife was pregnant, I dedicated more of my time to maintaining our house and taking care of my family.

It would be a lie to say that I was not excited, after all, I still have Grimm blood we are hunters by nature.

This time it was a bit special, Nicky's first hunt this in our family is a sacred rite where the innate attitudes of a hunter are demonstrated, there was a lot of contemplation in me since Nicky was a baby, I knew I was special and while growing up he only reaffirmed my belief at least in practice is a genius without equal, now it was time to see how it develops in the real.

Seeing him advance through the forest discovering footprints and deducing them instantly was quite surprising, the way he moved as if he were a feline stalking each movement was perfect and without letting anything pass, he advanced until he stopped, it seemed that he had found the goal.

I could see how he settled behind a tree, and take a shot this other than to say that it is incredible to see the function of this weapon called a crossbow.

I walked a bit to get a better view of what was happening when I heard the screech of the Wesen almost immediately. Nicky ran while he reloaded the weapon, advance after him until he saw how he put an end to the Reinigen.

I knew that the Reiginen never move alone, they probably have a partner or a family around the place.

The sounds of footsteps confirmed my theory, I could see how another of these attempted an assault from behind, unfortunately, Nicky rolled on the ground and dodged it, and after two shots ended the poor bastard's life.

Despite trying, I couldn't help but be proud that execution and investigation were perfect, it was difficult for me to see him as a rookie, or someone on his first hunt.

"Well, that could have been worse."

I heard Nicky talking as he settled the crossbow on his back.

"Well done." I said as seriously as possible.

"Father, what should we do with the bodies."

"We will burn them the last thing we want is to attract other Wesen to the place, you learned the steps to follow in this hunt quite quickly so you will only have to give ..."

* Footsteps Sound *

I was about to ask for a general report when the sound of hurried footsteps caught our attention.

It's probably the family of these two, or at least that's what I thought the real problem started when the footsteps went from two to fifty and fifty to hundreds until I lost track of the amount, almost immediately I got a flash we were in a jungle with hundreds of group screeches... This... This is...

"Shit ..." Nicky replied.
